Thanks to the CQ ranking manager game, I've been paying attention to the CQ numbers a bit more then I ever had before.

In looking at the team rankings, I noticed that right now at this VERY early stage of the season... Saxobank is dead last in terms of the pro-tour teams in CQ points.

It got me wondering what the final rankings will end up being like... who do you all think will be dead last among the pro-tour teams?

Current rankings:

1. Team Garmin - Cervélo PRT 979
2. HTC - Highroad PRT 636
4. Rabobank PRT 519
5. Movistar Team PRT 449
6. Vacansoleil - DCM PRT 436
7. Sky Professional Cycling Team PRT 430
8. Liquigas - Cannondale PRT 408
11. Ag2r - La Mondiale PRT 361
12. Lampre - ISD PRT 281
13. OmegaPharma - Lotto PRT 274
14. Team RadioShack PRT 268
15. Quick Step Cycling Team PRT 255
25. Euskaltel - Euskadi PRT 132
26. Leopard Trek PRT 124
27. Astana PRT 120
28. Katusha Team PRT 118
29. BMC Racing Team PRT 114
38. SaxoBank - Sungard PRT 73

Definitely won't be any of:
1.Team HTC - Columbia PRT 11129
3. Liquigas - Doimo PRT 10012
4. Team Katusha PRT 8735
5. Rabobank PRT 8617
6. Garmin - Transitions PRT 7821
7. Astana PRT 7043
9. Caisse d'Epargne PRT 6808
11. OmegaPharma - Lotto PRT 6597
12. Lampre - Farnese Vini PRT 6119
13. Sky Professional Cycling PRT 5846
14. Euskaltel - Euskadi PRT 5734

Probably won't be:
Radioshack, who have a roster that's mostly just a year older rather than a year better. Still, I don't think it's very likely.
Ag2r, who might well finish bottom of the World Tour rankings but I can't see them finishing bottom of CQ because of the French domestic races.

Rankings pre transfers:

1.Team HTC - Columbia PRT 11129
2. Team Saxo Bank PRT 10084
3. Liquigas - Doimo PRT 10012
4. Team Katusha PRT 8735
5. Rabobank PRT 8617
6. Garmin - Transitions PRT 7821
7. Astana PRT 7043
8. Team RadioShack PRT 7008
9. Caisse d'Epargne PRT 6808
10. Vacansoleil PROF 6626
11. OmegaPharma - Lotto PRT 6597
12. Lampre - Farnese Vini PRT 6119
13. Sky Professional Cycling PRT 5846
14. Euskaltel - Euskadi PRT 5734
15. Ag2r - La Mondiale PRT 5649
17. Quick Step PRT 4984
21. BMC Racing Team PROF 4485

Thanks, but that's before transfers, right?

Yes. I'm too lazy to add in the transfers I'm afraid.

(I've now confusingly managed to accidentally edit my original post with the 2010 rankings into a post about which teams it definitely won't be because I wasn't paying attention and pressed edit rather than quote. That's why the post you originally replied to is now after your post.)

The possibles, in my view are:

Saxo - we just don't really know how they are likely to do after their transfer carnage.
Vacansoleil - it looks like their big signings won't be racing and they benefited heavily in CQ terms last year from winning tons of smaller races.
BMC - did the worst last year of any current Pro Tour team. Like Vaconsoleil will have less opportunity to pick up easy points now that they are on the Pro Tour.
Quickstep - did the worst last year of still existing Pro Tour team from last year.

Could we get a ranking of 2011's Pro Tour teams per 2010 points?

Are you talking about the riders on the current pro-tour teams riders with their points from last year?

If so:

Rabobank: 10226
Garmin: 9811
Leopard: 9445
Vasco: 8820
Katusha: 8429
Lampre: 8262
Radioshack: 8192
Sky: 8075
HTC: 7915
Liqugas: 7790
Lotto: 7315
Astana: 6810
Movistar: 6350
BMC: 6297
AG2R: 6282
Saxo: 6084
Euskaltel: 5268
Quickstep: 5038

Euskaltel: 5268
Quickstep: 5038

Also note... these numbers include guys like Ricco, Contador and Armstrong who are still officially listed as members of their respective teams.

So in your head you might want to subtract 756 from Vasco, 2092 from Saxo and 448 from Radioshack.

Thank you very much for posting this. It's certainly interesting.

I'm still used to seeing Quick Step as a super powerful team. And Saxo is hilarious. I wonder where Geox would be.

Bottom 5 - Saxo Bank, BMC, Quick Step, AG2R, Vacansoleil.

I think from lowest to highest. Saxo's been gutted of it's points hogs, and although they have a fine set of riders that can pick up some good points, there's no way they'll do much beyond the cellar without Contador.

It's a little missleading since Saxo Bank has only ridden one race so far this year as far as I can see. It's a little strange actaully that they're either not invited to any of the early february races or they simply choose to start later.

Maybe Vacansoleil or SaxoBank.
LOL?

Why do people keep forgetting that the bulk of VSC points was not from Ricco (ricco was good for about 10%).

Just look at the quality through the team... they have some nice 2nd line sprinters that'll rack up points. They've got guys like Carrara and Marcato. Devolder, Leukemans and Hoogerland. Poels who is on the verge of breaking through, etcetera.
You dudes are seriously underestimating the team. But ok, we'll see at the end of the year I suppose.

I doubt Vasco will be in the competition for last place, but if Mosquera has issues too, it's tough to see too many stage race points going their way. I do wonder if they can do well enough picking up individual stages and in 1-day races to make up for a lack of stage race points.

Maybe I'm underrating their stage race potential though.

To your point though... even without Ricco and Mosquera, the CQ total of their riders this year using last year's results only drops to the same area as Lotto... not horrible.
