Young riders you'd like to see in the TdF.

Peter Sagan is probably on every one's list. But what about the other young riders who haven't made the leap to the show...for what ever reason.
For example, I've seen a couple of highlights of Theo Bos from Rabobank. He used to ride for Garmin. This guy seems fearless in the sprints and as aggressive as a pit bull. I don't know anything else about him or how he fits into Rabo's plans...but that's my pick. Any others?

Until he panics at being too close to the barriers and throws someone off their bike.............

Wouldnt call him young either

Fabio Duarte springs to mind. Still not exactly young though

I don't care about Sagan in the Tour. That's not a race for him. I'm much more interested in seeing Sagan in the classics.

For the Tour I would like to see all the top sprinters including Kittel and Guardini. Other than that I think it's young good climbing talent that would be intersting to see in the Tour. Riders that aren't afraid to do stupid attacks in the mountains. That's what's been missing in the Tour the last few years. This year was a little better but overall there has been a lot of waiting and defensive climbing so a few more riders that can mix it up would be nice.

Thibault Pinot eventually. The Colombians whose relentless, instinctive inclination to attack would certainly upset Johann and his starched collar crew to the point that they would start referring to them as LA referred to Pantani, as "little sh!t starters"!

Lol, that's comedy gold.

Anyway, the course is so easy that Rabo might as well bring him.

I think its time Dan Martin lit up the climbs of the TdF and makes some crazy attacks, alas, the TdF 2012 looks like a waste of time for Dan. Would like to see Steven Kruiswijk and Romain Sicard(when he is injury free) in the TdF as well!!

Leo König. He did well on the Colombier stage in Ain, and more importantly his name sounds like it could mean Lion King... (actually it doesn't but let's not have facts interferring.)

theyoungest, glad I was able to bring a smile to some faces. I'll admit ignorance (a cyclingnews first). Anyway, here is what I was thinking. I really got a kick out of Romain Feillu in the last tour...the way that he wasn't afraid to mix it up with the big boys and steal lead-out trains. So, sorry for the poor research on my pick (if that is the case)
However, I noticed that you didn't make a selection. What young rider gets theyoungest vote of approval?

I actually would rather not see Sagan at the Tour. Maybe it's just me, but I don't really care for these riders showing up for these kind of races. I'd much rather he developed in areas like classics and other one day races.

I'd love to see Pinot at the Tour. I think he would animate the race and do it in a great manner. Other than him? Hmm, I'd prefer the columbians doing the Giro or Vuelta if they have to do a GT, so I don't really know, though eventually, if they develop well, of course it would be great with a Quintana vs Kelderman battle ;)

Oh, someone mentioned the sprinters. Kittel and Guardini would be great. Maybe they could actually give Cavendish a run for his money.

Edit: oh yeah, Kwiatkowski but only to animate the race. And actually I would rather have him focusing on something else...

Definitely Sicard. Hopefully his health problems are behind him and he has a good off season and let's see what level he can return at. A year behind now in his progress but I still have high hopes for this kid. Maybe a Vuelta ride in 2012 if all goes well and TDF debut in 2013:)

Is that all you are saying?

Yes..

All joking aside. Its one of the most promising climbers in France and sure as hell isnt afraid of attacking ( See Dauphiné stage to La Toussire(sp.?) this year :).) so why not give him the chance of showing his energy?

Thibault Pinot. Although this Tour probably doesn't suit him.

Depending on your definition of the word, I'd rather not see many young riders. They won't be a tour-long asset to their teams, and will spend the first half of the season getting ready for something that will blow out the latter half of the season.

The tour is more suited to gnarled old pros who have the miles in their legs. A rider has too few "young" years to use one up on doing the tour

I'd rather see the youngsters at giro / vuelta.
The more experienced young guys can (around for a few years) ride, but the really young guys rarely have impact. Might as well ride giro or vuelta where they can shine a bit more.

Sagan probably could have some impact I guess.

Pozatto did really well at young age in the Tour.
