You should check the Strava files of 2021 Fleche. Valverde set the record on the final minute of de Mur and he finished like 5-6 seconds down. Going earlier is better for the top climbers.

He was 5-6 seconds down at the beginning of the Mur also...

Benoot was in the hospital last day/night. They had a baby daughter and he didn’t sleep so much. The birth will give him the energy he needs today.
