    2015 Le Samyn, 4th March, 201.2 km, 1.1

Any detail in the results for the ladies I can't believe they all finished at the same time - why are there no detailed results for Le Samyn de Dames? Oh, there are but not at cyclingnews.com. http://www.procyclingstats.com/race/Le_Samyn_des_Dames_2015

    Manifesto for clean cycling

No thread on this so far so here goes: Pinotti makes the obvious statement that the penalties for doping must be more severe than the potential benefit. He also highlights the current points system as an issue. Riders who themselves aggregate few points as they are riding int he service of...

    Thunderdrome

Having come into possession of a couple of good tickets for the Braveheart fund Thunderdrome event, I wandered down with the youngest for a grand day out in Glasgow and a chance to see the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome. The facility is excellent. Big, spacious yet intimate. A few grumbles from the...

    Ferrari's "magic"

Not me, the other one. I'm an analytical data analyst with expertise in protein mass spectrometry (and many other things but they aren't relevant here)

Team Ineos (Formerly the Sky thread)

As suspicious as the GB performance at the worlds in 2011?

Team Ineos (Formerly the Sky thread)

The tests are hard enough to do properly now with modern equipment. In 1989 it hardly surprises me that there were positive A samples and negative Bs, probably due to some mixture of lab variability and the mark being very close to the threshold.

Wel he did work for the lab that developed the EPO test..

    Masking blood withdrawal?

Heading out on the club hilly chain gang that you normally struggle on when fit is really not a sound plan the evening of the day you donate blood. Actually it is a really, really bad idea. Not something I care to repeat. Typically about 3 weeks to return to the same pre-extraction form as...

    Astana 2009

He didn't matter at the start. Nobody expected him to not crack. Despite his performance in the first part of the Giro (after which he retired to the autobus)

    Sean Yates

What was he busted for? I can't seem to find any references to what, just when.

Isn't the boxer Andy Rowe, Luke Rowe's brother (and a pretty handy club cyclist?)

    Wigans goes there. Cadence!

Again, no evidence, just supposition and innuendo. "he won, he must have been doping". You are extrapolating race position as an indicator of objective performance when it is subjective at best. There are so many other aspects going in to a race - whether he was the protected rider, what his...

    Wigans goes there. Cadence!

And maintaining form for a sustained period is also evidence of doping. And so is winning. And so is not winning. And so is training in appropriate locations. And so is not training. Is there *anything* *anyone* can do to win a bike race without being accused of doping by the peanut gallery...

    Wigans goes there. Cadence!

You have evidence to the contrary? Now, back to cadence as this is a thread about Wiggos cadence comment. How much did Wiggo reduce his cadence from last years ITTs to this years? I think it was about 10%. From a cadence of around 103 to something nearer 90 but I could be wrong. You are...
