2019 UCI Road World Championships Men's Road Race : 284.5km

He was way too far back with GVA/Matthews/Kristoff at that time. Not his usual attentive self near the front - probably thought too early. He himself burned GVA that way a few times, he should have known better. Alaphilippe and Matthews apparently did not have legs, but don't know what...

2019 UCI Road World Championships Men's Road Race : 284.5km

Sagan was way far back in the peloton, cruising next to GVA. He should have been more attentive and aggressive, instead was hoping it is still too early and Australia/Belgium/Norway/Germany will chase that break anyway. His problem is that if he started chasing, they would just tail him and...

Hm, so this is the 2015 edition of Sagan - there at the front at the crucial moments, but bonking in the last 20km. Clearly missing some kilos/endurance ... maybe that sickness, maybe different training. Personal issues probably do not help. Still, he did all the right things, just the legs...

Looking at the Sagan's impact/legacy purely through the 'win' optics is missing so much... Things like his TDF without a single win, but with breakaway heroics 5 days in a row ... Bike jump over fallen Cancellara in Paris-Roubaix. The 'sprinting stage' late breakaway with Froome at TDF. The...

    Harrogate to host 2019 Worlds

Sagan will depend on other strong teams watching/catching each other's attacks ... and if they blink, he can still will. His chances are better if there are several equally - strong teams, if there is one team much stronger than others, his chances are low(er). But he is Sagan, so you never know...

Re: Re: Yeah, very non-typical Sagan. But then, it's non-typical for him to be hurting after a really bad fall. + I assume the divorce stuff does not help him either I have no expectations regarding the result in Innsbruck, but hope he will at least entertain/be visible.

    2018 Paris - Roubaix

A') Gilbert escapes solo after all look at Sagan to chase ... but is eventually caught. Then Terpstra attacks and nobody has the legs to chase him. Would hate to see it, but that is the most likely scenario imho. A'') when it looks like B) will happen, Gilbert attacks from 1-2km and wins solo...

    2018 Tour of Flanders

Re: Re: yes, for example your post :-) Sagan covered Stybar shortly before, it was other's (GVA/Roelands, Benoot, Vanmarcke, Astana, ...) turn to cover Terpstra if they wanted to keep a chance win ... guess not. This is not the first time Sagan refused to get boiled while others waited for him...

    2018 Tour of Flanders

Re: 2018 Ronde van Vlaanderen Strade was way too early in Sagan's cycle E3 was great tactics by QS and stupid riding by him and Bora (nothing surprising there) He has an ace card with his sprint, if he is in the front group after the last hills, he has no incentive to work extra hard; there is...

    2018 Tour of Flanders

Re: 2018 Ronde van Vlaanderen He can lose it like in E3: Doing too much too early chasing quicksteppers, then being dropped on the last two muurs, with nobody being able/willing to help him with the chase. Never underestimate his ability to do tactical mistakes. Also, GVA or Kwia can outsprint...

    2018 Gent-Wevelgem, Deinze › Wevelgem (251.1k) - March 25

Re: 2018 Gent-Wevelgem, Deinze › Wevelgem (251.1k) - March 2 As Sagan has been a godsend for GVA, he has been the bane for Matthews. Matthews has had a sympathetic Tour last year, when not living under the shade of Sagan.

    2018 Gent-Wevelgem, Deinze › Wevelgem (251.1k) - March 25

What yaco was saying is that Sagan has excellent racing instinct _for sprint finishes_, and this is certainly true - he had no business winning in Doha (that was for pure sprinters), but he still did it. His longer-distance from finish tactics leave a lot to be desired, however, very often he...
