It feels like, once he knew he couldn't win the stage, that he dialed it back a bit. If the gap had been 1-2 minutes smaller, no doubt he would have won the stage and put another minute into JV. I'm sure he's annoyed that his team couldn't pace him better to reel in the breakaway.
