    How dirty is SaxoBank-Tinkoff?

Contador gained 2 mins on Mollema and Ten Dam, and useful time on most of the others. But do you think that Froome could have set a time 2 minutes faster? (Like in the first ITT.) P.S. I don't think that Contador is doping, but he really does seem to be closing the gap to Froome.

    How dirty is SaxoBank-Tinkoff?

Contador's improvement-rate is amazing, if only the TdF were three weeks longer, then his rest-day steak-dinners would give him the win! (Too bad that steak itself is worthless for endurance athletes, perhaps he needs clen-(plus-plasticizer-)pasta, instead of clen-beef?)

Teams & Riders Froome Talk Only

I think that most long-time cyclists and cycling-fans are watching Froome, and hearing all the flat-out stupid rationalisations from people like Brailsford (and he's calling us too stupid to understand powermeter data), and wondering whether we're seeing another "miracle." Even the...

The (top levels of the) UCI seems to be as incompetent as they are corrupt, which is why we know about these things. For the conspiracy theorists to be correct would require that McQuaid and friends show some competence.

For a couple of years, the Clinic folks have been accusing Sky of doping, but there should have been more rumors by now, due to rider/staff "churn?" So, instead, the nuttier Clinic types are saying that there must be a UCI conspiracy/cover-up. While Froome's TT seems unbelievable, maybe he'll...

He's running a (Dupont/Specialized/HED) tri-spoke front wheel? They've been the best in crosswinds for about 20 years?

Why would leg-muscle size make a big difference to aerobic power?

AFAIK, the following is how post-2000 doping works? Autologous blood transfusions tend to cause the reticulocyte count to fall? So if an athlete has multiple "top-ups," to sustain their form, then this is very visible on the biopassport. To keep their reticulocyte count looking normal, some...

Teams & Riders Froome Talk Only

Froome is adamant that he won't get busted, and he's smart enough to be aware of retroactive testing, and that other riders/staff may talk, so even experimental drugs would be too risky? What are the possibilities: 1) he's happy with 10 minutes of fame, and does not mind risking losing his...

But if Wiggins were to someday get caught by retroactive testing, he'd probably do a Landis?

Teams & Riders Froome Talk Only

Basically my thoughts and questions too. Also, if Sky are cheating, what could they be using? Transfusions alone are unlikely (Froome has good form for long periods, and if achieved by multiple transfusions, then his new red-cell count would plummet), and regular microdosing is now too much of a...

Dave Zabriskie to do a first at the Tour

Of course it's possible to compete in, and win, the TdF on a vegan diet. All the nutrients (necessary for human health) in animal-derived products can be found in non-animal products too. The only issues could be nutrient ratios within the food, and the bioavailability of those nutrients...

Look at me, I am a Vegan! Can I persuade you to become one too?

Pointing out that a PR winner, after eating steak for breakfast for that race, only gets 3rd, is hardly supporting your cause. :) Imagine if he had a vegan breakfast...

Look at me, I am a Vegan! Can I persuade you to become one too?

Good point Rip:30, if you are happy with just 3rd, and your criteria for a successful diet is merely being "still alive", then even meat can allow you to reach such lofty goals, but if you want to win the US TT champs for the 6th time, go vegan! :)

Study which show us that training with PM does not make you faster

A PM won't allow an individual to exceed their physiological limits, and (I assume) numerous athletes have achieved performances very close to their physiological limits without PMs. But the value of a PM is that it can allow an athlete to more quickly learn how to train, since they get...
