Lanark said:It is as I feared. I thought there were some promising signs in 2010 and 2011 that cycling was going in the right direction. After the complete domination of Sky in 2012 I was afraid the other teams would ratchet it up to the same level. We saw the first signs with Astana and Nibali in the Giro, but now it's undeniable.
Any hope of cycling getting cleaner are gone. We're back to the early 00's. They might as well lift Ricco's ban, he would fit right in with this freak show.

Will probably crumple on stages with more than 2 climbs.
Stetoe said:Some nice return of fitness for the saxo guys. Witnessing a bloodbag at work?
gerundium said:The old 2nd rest day tactics working out by the looks of it. Can they close the gap to froome? I am anxiously awaiting the next few stages.
LaFlorecita said:Saxo is still less dirty than Froome. I imagine Froome is as dirty as all of saxo combined. When was the last time he had a shower?
JustinReynolds said:The old 2nd rest day "preparation" that Riis (and Fuentes) are masters of didn't help. No wonder Berty looked like a bulldog chewing a wasp ... you just have to hope now the plasticiser doesn't turn up in your urine sample.
Galic Ho said:Can't say the same for anyone on Sky other than EBH.
the sceptic said:but you think sky are clean. lol @ you
JustinReynolds said:But this post isn't about Sky - its about Contador who, should we forget, said the other day that Froome is too strong and there is no reason to doubt his performances.
He's been bested in all the mountain stages and TTs by Froome so why does Berty now look so glum - was he expecting a 'boost' that hasn't worked?
Puckfiend said:Oh yes! It looks like the Spanish armada used their rest day very profitably. Probably all sat down to a nice steak dinner together.
ihavenolimbs said:Contador's improvement-rate is amazing, if only the TdF were three weeks longer, then his rest-day steak-dinners would give him the win!
(Too bad that steak itself is worthless for endurance athletes, perhaps he needs clen-(plus-plasticizer-)pasta, instead of clen-beef?)
jw1979 said:where exactly has he improved? if you are judging based on froome, that is non-sense, as he was obviously going just fast enough based on the time checks to keep it close. based on the 20 guys behind contador he hasn't improved at all.
