Teams & Riders The Great Big Cycling Transfers, Extensions, and Rumours Thread

So Soudal a Belgian company is going to support a merger so that the most exciting Belgian GC candidate in years can go to a British team?

It looks like they only have 4 spots left with some riders they will likely resign. I suspect that if an opportunity fell into their lap, they might be able to convince one of the new signings to start on the development team and then switch to a stagiaire, or upgrade as Valgren did this year.

    Jumbo - QuickStep merger

Could this be more about Soudal realizing that Lefevere will be at the end of his managing career soon and looking to back another manager?

Samamba, The points system is not fair, it weights heavily towards Belgium and French Teams. This is because there are so many more races in those countries that statistically favor the teams from those countries. Please stop arguing these minor points, as they are weak in comparison to the...

Mikkel Honoré looks like a very interesting addition to the EF squad. If he can have a year like 2021 he will be a great add. Nice surprise recruit.

    UCI Points system

The ASO is part of the problem because they own the equivalent of the Super Bowl and the tv streaming rights for that are so valuable (setting aside the requirement that some events be broadcast for free in certain some countries).. Until broadcast rights are bundled together in a way that all...

Teams & Riders Hot Foss - The Tobias Foss Thread

I was very impressed by Foss's ride to win the WC ITT. I think many of us saw how strong he was in the Canadian WT races, but never expected this. Kudos to him and his team. I wish him well in the future.

Yes thank you for pointing out the French ASO is a big bully, they depend upon all the smaller races to build up their cash cow. If only they would share revenues. Back to the relegation system that also favors the French (and Belgium teams).

    Battle for 2023-2025 WT licenses

I want to highly compliment the race organizers for the large number of races they support. Obviously, we know that some countries also have GC races so the full number supported by each country is higher. Most importantly It stands out that there is a statically significant advantage for...

Maybe you should look at the last 10kms - there was a crash that eliminated a huge number of the sprinters in the French points race of the day. They took Powless to the hospital to get him checked out. He subsequently was able to leave without any significant injuries.

The points are very tight and many races are left - a lot can still happen. As an extreme example, Intermache still has 29 races on its schedule (excluding the world championships - up to 5 races).
