I do too, but feel like you might need to redo that poll because i think there was a problem with your sample population. Either way the debate is still more open than Pogi vs. any contemporary to the point I am not even sure if it would be MVP or Vingo.

idk if it's comparable. You only have one Pogi, Messi and Ronaldo were two going toe-to-toe for years and years, so more difficult to argue one was dominant on the level of Pogi. And in my experience football fans can have plenty recency bias and favorite league bias and all the other biasses...

yeah, maybe. As long as he is dominant in the Tour, he can afford these side quests. also back to back 2nd places... simply by playing the numbers game he looks bound to win it eventually if he keeps at it. Then again, Pogi might just find motivation in mixing up his schedule once in a while.

Yeah, this is the thing. GOAT or no GOAT, that is largely a question of personal perspectives. But what is undeniable is that Pogi is doing what we thought haven't been remotely possible since Hinault or even earlier.

2028 is a very long way away. I don’t think Pogi or UAE has given it much serious consideration yet. GT treble would be crazy, but until 2024 we also thought Giro-Tour doubles were a ting of the past especially given all Pogis other wins that year. If anyone can do it or even come close it’s...

Teams & Riders The "MVP" Mathieu Van der Poel Road Discussion Thread

Yeah, as a pro you need to look at the positives. MVP has a lot of positives to take away here. as you point out it is really encouraging to loose due to circumstances more than lack of power or endurance. And i also think he is aware that sometimes lady luck favors you in P-R and sometimes she...

wow sour grapes from mr Bjerg! (well maybe his tone was better with audio, but can't listen atm). Yeah UAE doms needed to have been on point here and help Pogi back ASAP, you need two dudes looking out for your leader at all times. It's their own damn fault.

on the Vuelta vs. Worlds + Lombardia (and other one day races ) Debate: I think because Pogi hasn't won the Vuelta it would be nice for him to tick off that particular box. But it's not like anyone is going to look at his palmares after his career and go "oh he was ok, but 6 TdF wins doesn't...

    The Mad Mads Pedersen Thread

Yeah, always tough to predict the future. I think some years luck have ruined his chances at hanging on to the front group in P-R. So maybe he'll get some luck there one year. Maybe after Pogi has won MSR, the race dynamics will change a bit and UAE will go less all in to make the race hard...

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

If he can keep going to PR at the same comparative level to main rivals as the past two years, I think Pogi will most likely win one year, even if MVP is stronger overall in this specific race. But give him 5 sprints at the velodrome and Pogi won't loose all 5. But he will always struggle to...

    The Mad Mads Pedersen Thread

During the race yesterday i told my wife "some years he might have had the legs but not the luck, lets hope this year he has luck AND legs", sadly he didn't. But overall, as Rhd points out, he did a decent classics campaign given the circumstances, certainly gives us hope he can salvage the season.

Great win today. Funny that he only wins it after most of us had written him off because he clearly isn’t as on par with MVP anymore as he used to be.

He also said the race would be decided between Pogi and Pedersen. And that riders should attack with 89 k to go.

Yeah. But Pogi might just have the bigger engine despite burning a bit more fuel on the way.

Wouldn’t be so strange different personalities react differently to different work environments and roles.
