So, not as good a Classics Season as could have been hoped at the beginning of the year.
Much better Classics season than feared on 4/2, when it looked like he might not even get to do the Classics Season.

During the race yesterday i told my wife "some years he might have had the legs but not the luck, lets hope this year he has luck AND legs", sadly he didn't.

But overall, as Rhd points out, he did a decent classics campaign given the circumstances, certainly gives us hope he can salvage the season.

Yes, this year he finally had the luck, with several punctures and incidents to his main rivals (sure, he himself also had one puncture, but at a moment where it was not dangerous, on the first section). But he just didn´t have the legs, probably because of his injuries that meant that he was/is still not 100%.

Honestly I doubt that he will ever win a Monument (I hope I am wrong). This could finally have been his year, but the crash in Spain ruined that dream. That been said, I still think he did a very good Monument Campaign, managing to finish 4th at Sanremo, 5th at Ronde van Vlanderen and 7th at Paris-Roubaix, despite not being at 100%.

Since he could not win yesterday, I am happy that Van Aert won. He deserved it so much.

Yeah, always tough to predict the future. I think some years luck have ruined his chances at hanging on to the front group in P-R.
So maybe he'll get some luck there one year.
Maybe after Pogi has won MSR, the race dynamics will change a bit and UAE will go less all in to make the race hard enough to drop MVP. Pogi could decide to change his calendar or the team might decide to allocate resources elsewhere and pick up some more wins with Del Torro and Navaez.

So there might be a few more chances for Mads P, but let's see, his prime won't last forever.
