This was indeed an epic stage, Froome took an all or nothing gamble and had the luck that all the pieces in the puzzle fell in the right place for him. Yates blowing up early on the Finestre, the only teammate for any of the chasers left was at a small distance behind so it somehow made sense...

He would have to distance any two of these three to get on the podium: Contador (by at least 47''), Quintana (by at least 26'') or Kreuziger (by at least 14''). So if it's easy to distance Kreuziger, I can't see Purito dropping Quintana or putting 50'' into Contador.
