Why I hate the Tour Down Under

I would've concurred if it weren't for the fact that: Exactly. I understand that: 1) money is important (i.e. UAE Tour etc.) 2) they don't want to have 90% of the races in Belgium, France, Italy; and the other 10% between Spain and the rest of Europe. But TDU is pretty lame: definitely, as...

Meaning that it isn't quite hard, Though his opposition: while not being crazy strong, still appears way more challenging than Pog's in 2024: Daniel Martinez, 38y.o. G.Thomas, Tiberi, O'Connor, Arensmann I mean we all say jokingly that Tadej won the 2024 giro in 'zone 2'. I think...

They should do something, and definitely do better, make it (Berta+first part of Cipressa) harder than in 2025. The issue is that between Capo Berta and Cipressa there are, what, 17km? So, not easy. Thankfully I'm not the one in charge of figuring it out.

"Diano Marina", "San Bartolomeo a Mare" Pog was likely was on 'Capo Berta' of MSR The way UAE approaches the whole Capo Berta + Cipressa part, will be pretty important.

55 weeks for 'Tour-Vuelta-Giro-Tour'; 62 weeks for 'Tour-Vuelta-Tour-Vuelta' 33-34 weeks break between Vuelta and Giro Again, i'm not so convinced it's such a big factor: If anything, I'd say the two GTs per year, in two consecutive years, aspect, is bigger. But even more so, what matters is...

Can we consider Vuelta-Giro as actually being 'in a row"? Two GTs each year for two consecutive years, ok, that's one thing. But "in a row". I'am not convinced. Plus, in 2025: 62 race days: 61 of which stage races, and a DNF at CC doesn't appear like a crazy schedule

Let's not get carried away. Perhaps. But those scenarios are a big IF. 1)Ayuso has a lot to prove. 2) when it comes to Remco: there's very little ITT in 2026's TdF and will 'Jonas with Giro in his legs' be any worse than '2024 Jonas after crash in Izulia'? I doubt it. 3) Lipo is strong, but in...

Winning a second Vuelta doesn't matter compared to completing the full TdF-Giro-Vuelta package. Now, if we were talking about 'more Tours' it would be one thing, but one more Vuelta? Meh.

Why would it be a mistake? I am one of those who thinks the 'all 3 GTs' accomplishment is overrated; TdF is way too important compared to the other two GTs and technically there aren't big differences such as in MSR vs. RVV vs. PR vs GdL. Nonetheless, regardless of I personally feel about it...

    The 3 GT and 7 one-week races.

This year appears to be a good year to do TdS: it's only 5 stages (it used to be 8*) and the TdF this year is back-loaded: will big stuff even happen before stage 14 / the 18th of July? https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/tour-de-france/2026 *in 2025, around 2004-2019 it was 9 stages, back...

No, you didn't read it: you made it up. Some might argue such thing, but all people had written here was that for Pog's legacy winning PR would've been more important than winning the Vuelta. Lets push it one step further. What do you think would be bigger in Pog's situation: A) winning PR and...

The difference here being that Froomy is almost 41 and has been a ghost since 2019. Indurain retired at 32 at the end of the first year (1996) he didn't win a GT. He had won the TdF just a year prior (1995) and in 1996 he won: - Dauphiné and a couple other one week races - Olympic TT Simon...

Yep. Fair point, but Nibali is off all the same MVDP can - partially - win by "cunning and tactics" because he is fast at the sprint even among classics top racers. So all he might have to do is tire Pedersen; and he'd be a pretty favorite against the slovenian... on top of many others, on a...

    The 3 GT and 7 one-week races.

I think you are mixing up 'outsider looking objectively' and many 'causal fans'. An outsider who follows cycling properly, knows that a PR would be bigger than a Vuelta. Some casual fans, especially from the USA or sometimes even southern europe, basically are barely aware of the existence of...

    The 3 GT and 7 one-week races.

No. If the argument is: a career with one GT vs. a career with one, idk, LBL Like Jay Hindley vs Bob Jungels it would be one thing. But here we are talking about a guy who already has 4 TdFs (+two 2°) and a Giro. It's a completely different scenario. For Pogi, winning P-R would add way more to...
