    Cycling to lose weight while taking enough for the ride

    Biking is a good cardio workout for burning fat. But as others have said, I wouldn't risk cramping for not eating carbs on long distance rides. You need the carbs to fuel your muscles. Also to prevent cramping, I've always heard that bananas which contain potassium are good for combating cramps.

    Nurtitional Snacks

    I like smoothies with lots of fruit. It's filling and contains lots of vitamins and gives you lots of energy. I also like eating nuts like peanuts and almonds and oats is really good and healthy.

    Losing weight during the season?

    I also tend to gain a little weight in the winter as I ride less and I eat the same. I lose it pretty quickly once the weather warms up. I do try to lessen the carbs in the winter since I'm not biking and I don't need the energy.
