Winning the Ronde van Vlaanderen week is really pleasing. That's what the plan always was with Wout and Remco, scoring big in these races.
However, not having Paul Seixas is going to be a crucial mistake.
Goosebumps, tears, heartbeats, broken voice. I'm so filled with joy right now.
This one is for Michael Goolaerts and for all the persistence, for alle those comebacks and sacrifices you had to make, Wout. So, so well deserved!
Haha! And no, guess it's a health thing again for Rune. Shame, would've been his first Ronde.
I was the one crawling next to the Jayco lads. Made it steadily to the top though.
Did a little Ronde van Vlaanderen recon today. Stumbled upon this fella, who really wanted to have a picture with me. In return I asked to grant Wout van Aert the victory. Let's see if it works out Sunday.
Cycling has been cruel so often for Wout. Again today.
But if the stars align coming Sunday or the one after, it'll become a fairytale. Let us hope. I sincerely do.
Some physical setbacks, also bad luck in Roubaix, and of course the loss of an unborn first child that really struck him. Nevertheless he still got some ok victories, Kuurne 2014 was nice and during 2015 he was finding his sprint legs again untill that horror crash in Abu Dhabi happened.
The Boonen that almost won Paris-Roubaix and the World Championships in his last full season, that outsprinted the likes of young guns Démare and Matthews in two semiclassics that same year, also got another victory in his last few months, and rode a strong farewell Ronde and Roubaix however...
Well. Can't deny that I'm quite disappointed by his performance today. He didn't need to win for me today, but a solid result to build on was certainly what we hoped for.
I think the wind caused Del Toro to lose a few more seconds, but I don't think you can expect him to do (much) better than the likes of Van Wilder or Tiberi.
