Even though we are witnessing an era full of phenomenons, let's not overlook the fact that Evenepoel trully is an absolute legend when it comes to time trialing. Today again, only 12 kilometers in the flat desert against a physique beast and supertalent like Tarling, he manages to come out on top and even decimate most opponents.

GOAT-vibes in this specific discipline. Chapeau Remco.

Only Anquetil and Merckx are comparable at this point. I'll leave it to the forum to argue which of these respective eras had the most depth in its TT field.

Del Toro lost 37sec to Ganna on a very simular TT in Tirreno last year and even if hes improved since then Remco is also better than Ganna. I think 30 sec plus minus is a fair mark not accounting for the wind.
Del Toro lost more than I would think which was 30 sec plus minus but I dont know how much that is duo to the wind or not? Always hard to properly gauge that. Didnt get to watch but read some say it picked up substantially other no

I think the wind caused Del Toro to lose a few more seconds, but I don't think you can expect him to do (much) better than the likes of Van Wilder or Tiberi.

Indeed thats where about ish I expected him to be around too and would consider good for him. I guess its impossible to gauge the extent of how much the wind impacted. Not that important tho in reality either I just wondered.

I suspect that Del Toro rode a conservative ITT and has set his eyes on the hilltop finish tomorrow and on the penultimate stage hilltop finish. Remco Mustafa races all his ITTs flat out and usually sputters on the following stages. We'll see.

Really? What is the logic there? And how do you actually know this?

I do not know what to expect as he is at early season weight and has spent zero time at altitude, so I think he could definitely struggle tomorrow, but not because of racing the ITT flat out. 13 minute effort should have almost no effect. Weight and lack of altitude training are usually the causes for Remco's subpar climbing.

Noone is holding back at a 12 km TT thats obv bs, no point to discuss even he obvious went full gass.
Not sure, if i don't care about GC, and i'm just on donkey duty for the first part of the stage, i would just ride this one in. Obviously Del Toro wants to win, so him not going full would be very weird indeed.

I do hope tomorrow will be a good watch, and an even better watch as a remco fan.

Yeah I obv meant in Torito case. Only reason ive looked forward to UAE tour is tomorrow. Neither has relative excelled on that type of mountain before thats just real talk, but Remco clearly better than Del Toro end of last year.

If theres any talk about him closing the gap to just Jonas in the first place which is a monster, he should be able to dispatch Del Toro easily thats just how the cookie crumbles, hes suppose to be a tdf leader Del Toro is not. Hes first and foremost an extreme talent atm.

To me this is about improvement and best‑case scenario both show big signs of improvement on this kinda effort.

He lost more than 40s even, and according to Evenepoel wind was very similar. Since he rode worse than Tarling last year that makes sense

I think i saw something of 10km/h when remco rode, and 15km/h when Del Toro did his TT. Not sure how accurate that is.
