Hello, is it possible to insert another column in the 'home' page of each main area of the Forum, which shows the date of the first post of a topic (besides the date of the most recent post)?

Like this ...

I think maybe because in July silly season, some old threads get restarted.

Instead:

Maybe have a 14 day automatic locking of a thread. If nothing occurs within a thread within 14 days, a new topic has to be started?

You can always have a link to the old thread in your first post.

That way we can start arguments all over again. :)

Don't think so, some threads can live forever even if they fall off for a while they can continue on. But it would signal something depending on the topic/title/forum section, guess that's one case for it.

Absolutely no chance of this happening. None of the techies are going to give time to this. We can't even get important things changed let alone nice to have stuff like this.

Sorry

Sometimes I'm going through the thread titles and I see one of interest, then when I click it, it's a post started a year or more before. sometimes, although there's one current reply, the original date is so old that the topic is hardly relevant.

Okay, I totally understand about the techies not going to give time for this. :)

Which is utterly utterly disappointing since pretty much 90% of all Cyclingnews' articles are based on posts from this forum.

It is pretty common to have threads locked after a certain amount of time has past since the last post. It would not suprise me if it was simply a setting in this forum's software.
