We are getting closer to the last Monument of the season, but here is another appetizer.

A nice mixture of riders with different skillset should be able to win this, at least on paper.

Perfect opportunity for yet another wonderkid to win on Italian soil. Brennan my favourite for this one.

Are my eyes deceiving me or is that Michael Matthews making a threatening front group instead of his usual high risk strategy of easily winning the sprint behind!

Bling has no choice because Jayco has been awful in the last few one-day races. Vine has to stop riding at the front as it serves no purpose.

After his near death experience at altitude camp his life flashed before his eyes and he realized what he had missed out on. Next year we will see him making anticipatory attack in Flanders to be ahead of the favourites going onto the koppemberg!!!

In seriousness I'm very happy that he's racing again

Why doesn't Kuss drop back from the lead group to help Brennan bridge across.

Brennan decided to be aggressive instead of waiting to get attacked, will need to be doing this sort of thing next year as he won't be as underestimated as he has been at points. The element of surprise is gone and he knows he will need more than just his sprint to beat Magnier and De Lie, who I think will be his main rivals in the next few years. Obviously others will probably emerge too.

Group correctly realised they can't be having Sepp Kuss throwing in attacks on a flat one day race just on principle, wouldn't be able to go home and look your family and friends in the eye if you let that one get away.

In my eyes Brennan is such a heavy favorite, I wouldn't take a turn if I was in the lead group, It's up to Kuss to haul them to the line.

UNO X going all out in peloton to make sure Cofidis doesn't get too much points on them

Looks like no one is. They're getting caught very quickly by one Uno and a Bahrain rider.

Edit - looks like Kuss has dropped off, so maybe they'll start working now.

Also having 0 riders in a 12 man front group is a bad situation…

It's to be expected with this team and their form right now. They just aren't good enough for most of these classics with Johannessen out of form. All about trying to minimize damage to Cofidis, try to maybe win some points in Binche and Paris Tours and then pray Cofidis doesn't close the gap in Asia (I think they will tbh).
