Have you not heard of Markus Hoelgaard? He should definitively fight for top 5 in races like this.

Yeah no I never heard of him...

He's not a guarantee to be with the best 10 or 15 uphill in these races, and his form isn't superb either lately. He can sprint to a good result yes, if it comes together, but that has nothing to do with the ability to make that front group.

Well Fausto is not on the startlist so that's one ruled out. He is a bit of a coppa bernocchi specialist

He's mainly known for not winning races, so I never had him in mind. But if they stay away, then Brennan should obviously be forced to close gaps in the final which could improve Matthews, Hermans, Bagioli and Albanese's chances of beating him in a sprint if it comes to that.

He’s been 4th and 7th in his last two races, no reason to not believe he could do something similar today if the break get caught and therefore it makes perfect sense for Uno-X to try pulling the break back (which seems like they won’t be able to do)

In races with a worse field and one of them in a sprint. Again nothing to do with being able to make that front group or not. I never said he couldn't get a result here? I said they aren't good enough for MOST of these classics (meaniong uphill) with their climber out of form so their main goal is minimizing the damage to Cofidis.

I don’t know where this making the front groups comes in.
My posts was about Uno-X having all the right reasons for pull in the peloton, not only to “ruin for Cofidis” (making it a big sprint might be good for Cofidis if Aranburu and Oldani have good legs) but to chase a result with Hoelgaard.

It could turn out to be bad, but you don't take the risk of Thomas winning. Of course the presence of a Cofidis rider in that group is a big reason, as it should be. If you're fighting for points all year long to then not ride like this the last few races, they would be stupid. They have been riding like Hoelgaard (even tho he's def not slow) is the favorite. You are responding like I ment it as a bad thing.

Yes, I do think your first post (quoted below) that I replied to does imply you think it being a bad thing and that you’re indicating that Uno-X just goes all out to stop Cofidis while in reality they put 1 or 2 guys on the front and saved their fastest riders (Hoelgaard and Løland) for the final. What Uno-X did today would be the right way to ride for result in this situation (0 riders in a front 12) even without the battle against Cofidis.
UNO X going all out in peloton to make sure Cofidis doesn't get too much points on them
