Chabbey capitalised on the others botching that turn
is it fair to say they botched it ? I mean obviously Chabbey capitalises on it, but it was a deliberate move by Kasia to block ELB on that side imo, which also blocked Koch, and if Chabbeys not there then Kasisa wins as it showed ELB had nothing left to contest the sprint, so if theyd gone for the better line through the corner, I still think Kasia finishes 2nd, and its maybe Koch who wins instead.

They were shown the right way to the finish, by the way.

They botched it as they got tangled up and lost momentum/speed.

I also think ELB saw Kasia coming on the inside and tried to close the door somewhat.

Then Koch came with too much speed as ELB drifted out a little bit to avoid a crash with Kasia.

Perfect storm for Chabbey to capitalise on that. She didnt hesitate and had enough gas left to overtake. Chapeu!

I know im being picky, sorry :) but the whole intent imo of the Kasia drift wide was to lose momentum & speed, just that it would lose more momentum & speed to her rivals on her right hand side who she was compacting towards a barrier and theyd brake more, weve seen that tactic before at Strade and its quite effective

She forgot about her left side.

Now yes in that sense it means she botched it as ultimately it wasn't the winning move, ELB & Koch botched it too getting suckered into a line that Kasia could control instead of them choosing their line

But without Chabbey there, thats a winning a move for Kasia. And how often are there 4 riders contesting the finish after the climb at Strade?

I'm not like some super Kasia fangirl, I hope she was as super excited to finish 2nd in this race as she expected Demi to be at TdFF last year and wasnt all upset at the podium presentations for Elise...I know she wasnt, for once CanyonSRAM haven't attempted to pretend finishing 2nd was the best result they wanted

But i still think its harsh to say it was a botched corner.

Im saying they all botched it, going side by side into that corner.

Kasia for trying to go on the inside.
ELB for trying to close the door but not quite doing it.
Koch for coming with too much speed.

They botched it for each other, but that was racing! It happens, but it was the outcome. It is not me being critical, but observing what happened and why.

Chabbey, who was a couple metres behind, could go faster out of the turn... while the others struggled with balance and lost speed to avoid a crash. She saw that and went for it. Chapeu.
