Can't seem to find one in UK
Thanks
Bustedknuckle said:DT 350 or DT240 disc..get a 'road' shimano/sram or Campagnolo 130mm LH axle end ..bob's yer uncle. Just did this for 2 sets of 240...that went onto 130mm Gunnars.
White has the answer to everything but cramming a steel set screw into a aluminum axle..for assembly.
Giuseppe Magnetico said:Keeping in mind that the only people that ever complain about that design feature, or lack there of, are only wheel builders. Have built hundreds of White Industries sets without so much of a peep from the end user about how to set preload. It may be a crude system, but it sure eliminates the scenario of too much preload which fries bearings, a common mistake people make.
Bustedknuckle said:Hi Dude(keeping your real identity secret)-good to hear from you. All well?
I'm still reeling from the 2 bent axle gig from WI...
Just built 2 sets that were sent to me..pretty hubs, no doubt.
In my 'next' life, probably 'feature' WI hubs along with shimano, Campag, DT and Phil.......for the fixie knuckleheads.
Have ya built any Pacenti rims? Just built 2...
Seems like Velocity-esque-better than mavic(aren't they all?), like H+Son..wee bit rounder/flatter than Velocity.
Giuseppe Magnetico said:Yeah, all is good in the old hood. Back in MN till the end of the month, then home to CO for a couple weeks. Looks like it's going to be back and forth all summer. Thanks for asking!
As much as I like White Industries stuff they do have a reputation for odd design moves, that preload set screw being one of them, 130mm disk hubs, JIS only cranks. Also those track hubs you want to carry have their own proprietary spline system so you're relegated to using their cogs. Paul track hubs are the better bargain by just being universal, and if a customer really wants to do a splined quick change cog system just add Miche.
Haven't tried the Pacenti's, and probably won't since I'm phasing out of rim brakes. Early this year I really consolidated down my alloy clincher rim inventory to all H PLUS SON for quality being #1 factor. The only other rim mfg that would be equal is DT, but they don't make a 23mm wide road rim, and H PLUS SON anodize after machining so I can use the same rims for both rim and disk brake builds without looking to weird with the d-brakes.
