Two Doping positives in the championship of Portugal ITT. According to the chairman of the Anti Doping Agency of Portugal, Luís Horta, published today in the newspaper Record.

Both are elite riders but the names were not yet revealed and the podium at that Portugese ITT Championship consisted of the winner,

1. Rui Costa adored by Vacansoleil and kicked out by Unzue Movistar (Caisse) last week.

2. Sérgio Sousa (Madeinox-Boavista)

3. Mário Costa (Barbot-Siper)

RadioShack has also a number of Portugese in it's ranks.

Seems to be a disproportionate number of positives coming up lately. Maybe the various federations are getting a bit of a foot up their collective *sses via WADA et al... Or, maybe I'm just optomistic...

perhaps the portuguese doping agency is giving it a tougher line , you'll recall the national football manager was recently removed by there FA on the back of there agents being treated improperly when doing some early morning unannounced tests

To quote my post in another forum yesterday:

I was right, it's them.
Is it officially confirmed? Oh damn, colour me surprised. As I said, Caisse has always done things "right", but if it's two brothers doing their thing I guess there's not much you can do.

I guess this puts the whole "not riding since the Tour" thing in a different light.

The substance is methylhexanamine, the same as in Lhotellerie's case. Oddly, the head of the anti-doping organization said the case is still being investigated and compared it to Liédson's case.

In Liédson's case, the B-sample was negative....I wonder if that's what he means. I very much doubt it, though, as these are TWO cases at once, and both brothers.

I doubt it, though. Anyway, it's been 3 years since Caisse had a positive.

not particularly good day for bikepures pr then...

I don't think it affects Bikepure much, it's not like they sponsor him or anything, i.e. he hasn't received any money from them. It does reflect badly on him that he would do that, though. At least the other dopers had the grace not to make such anti-doping pledges.

Does he sport the blue wristband?

The bikepure link to old Rui in their website listings is dead.

Is it just chance or is are they already stopping him from Rui-ning the bikepure image?

Imagine you signed up for that bikepure thing when you were young and naive and idealistic, it might raise some eyebrows if you left when you went over to the dark side. It's like joining a "Not being a pedophile" group in Facebook or something.

Maybe they should make it an annual pledge or something, like a magazine subscription. Send them a renewal form every year, if it's not returned by end of Feb then remove them.

It would save the anti-doping authorities a lot of trouble when selecting "targets"

or just make bikepure riders give bikepure their bio passport profiles and bp could remove members they are suspicios of :D.

It was always going to happen one day. Bikepure is an organisation built on trust, that trust was always going to be broken by someone.

Just goes to show you cant bikepure AND livestrong..
