For the benefit of Alpe.
We are now racing at high altitude in China. Kazakh Andrey Mizurov (ex Astana) and now of the Kazakh squad Tabriz Petrochemicals won the opening 4.8km prolouge which was raced at 5000m above sea level. Two years ago Discovery Channel went 'Team Columbia' on the race, winning 6 stages (5 of them to Allan Davis and one to Chechu Rubieria), but not the overall GC.
Past winners include: Tom Danielson (2002), Damiano Cunego (2003), the late Ryan Cox (2004), Czech Martin Mares (2005), Maarten Tjallingii (2006), Gabriele Missaglia (2007), and last but not least, Tyler Hamilton (2008).
Enjoy.
