I hope there is some TV coverage of the first stage, I was in Riccione this time last year for the Gran Fondo Nove Colli and it looks like the route of stage 1 goes right past the hotel I stayed in.

Not much interest in this race it seems.

...ice poncing... Absolutely brilliant!!! Wife and daughter had to watch every second of it during Winter Olympics... Thankfully we had last hour of M-SR on TV over here--tape delay, but better than nothing.

The sprint was hard fought, the TTT less so.
A distinct lack of foreign teams on show. I spotted Cervelo, but that was it.
Not surprising when the UCI schedule 3 stage races and 3 major 1 day races, in the same week.
Incredible incompetence.

This race offers a great balance. Some testing climbing, without getting too heavy.

That penultimate climb looks 6.5km @ 6%.

Enough for The Cobra?

This finish produced one of the great Giro stages in 2003, when Gibo set up a beautiful attack and snatched pink from Garzelli.

I not much better informed than you - I can see RaiSport+ on the
digital terrestrial here at home - so it's easy for me to read the rolling
news style info about schedule changes.
Today (Wednesday) they are still announcing that 17:45 CET will be cycling.
Last announcement was made at 12:50 so it's probably true.

There was an unscheduled repeat of Tuesday's highlights at 12:30 CET today
- go figure! (skate?)

Scarponi will be the team leader-although I hope he could aim for stage wins & get a top ten, but his overall GT chances aren't good, considering the competition he's up against.
