This picture just makes me sad! :( How could a day which started so nicely end up so horribly? But I guess that's the question we've all been asked ever since...

Sorry in advance for posting this picture!

Have to say I'm so glad I didn't actually see this or Soler's crash for that matter. I had to leave for a meeting and when I returned my mum told me about it and how everybody had gotten really tense. I also found I video with the crash where the commentator goes all "Oh no! Not again!"

Oh my, my heartrate went down to 1 beat when I saw Slagter fall..
That's the 2nd worst experience I've had while watching cycling, it looked as if it were all happening again...horrible, horrible feeling. I remember the commentators panicked quite a bit too.

Why do you think I said I'm glad I didn't actually see it? I won't hesitate to admit that I've gotten pretty emotionally involved with this sport!

That's not an Ardennes classic, just a warm-up.

Neither is Amstel. With the new date the Brabantse Pijl will get more prestige, just a matter of time. Especially now that it's been proven that you don't need Pais Vasco to be good at the Ardennes.

I'm sorry, but there's a lot of prestige to be gained for the Fleche Brabanconne, if Rosseler won it last year in what was practically a give-away by the favourites. That doesn't change now that Philly Gilly has won it, with the only decent competitor being Leukemans.

As for Amstel, it's not technically in the Ardennes, but I consider it to be an Ardennes classic.
