I think it helped Evans because Contador would have kept trying to drop him until he cracked.

He could've just rested, gaining time on everyone but Andy and Contador and maybe even attack on the Alpe. Right now I have no doubt about his strength today, which would have kept him with the others easily for sure.

I think if Evans hadn't had a mechanical or had otherwise been dropped Andy would not have worked and the move would have fizzled at some point.

What are we gonna do if Contador gets suspended? Besides of Andy's attack yesterday he's the one to blow the race apart. Let the guy ride:)

only problem i see is no1 helping him on the later part of the descent and the 5 at the front(i am including samu) working together
