nothing wrong with ambition.

But I'm not so sure if De Gendt wouldn't suit the ardennes more.

he is an exciting rider anyway

I think he can do both à la Gilbert/GVA, but yeah, he seems perfectly built for the Ardennes.

You guys think Bauke can move up to 1st overall? Is he so strong to have almost 1:30 over Cunego on TT?

Generally boring stage today. Cunego nicely controlling the race. Tomorrow I hope to see Hushovd winnig and nice battle on the finish.

Uhh. He's the 2nd best TTer in the top 10, only Leipheimer is slightly better. He will move up for sure, possibly to around 5th or so.
Nah, don't overdo it, he's good but he's somewhere on level with Fuglsang.

Museeuw is a little over-euphoric. He says he can see De Gendt winning Ronde van Vlaanderen one day:cool: Something like Omloop would do just fine for him in one-day races I guess.

The guy is having an awesome season so far though! 2 wins from early breaks. It's hard to win that way and he allready has 2 in WT races.

Great performance.

I doubt it. He should focus on staying on the podium I'm afraid. With Fuglsang and Leipheimer not far behind him.

He has a good combo of brains and legs. Because don't underestimate his strength, he can climb and time trial very well.

I see him doing it, he has the build for it...

Lesser talents have won the Ronde already. But yeah, he should-for now- just stick to getting wins from breakaways in prestigious races.

Becoming one of my favorite riders very quickly.

I'm confused.

Leipheimer not helping bring back people up the road to protect his top 10 placing = "He's a no good wheel-sucker! WHY DIDN'T HE PULL?!?!"

Schleck having his team pull back people to protect his top 10 placing = "WHY HELP CUNEGO? YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE PULLED!"

Someone just help me out with the logic please.

Bit more for the Ardennes if you ask me, but he should be able to do well on all sort of courses (like Gilbert or GVA).

And bigger talents haven’t won it too;) Nah, he CAN, but speaking about potential, there are quite enough guys who clearly have better cards to win it one day.

I second your last sentence.

There is no logic to the opposite stances, but the situations were a bit different. I don't think it can be justified, but here's my spin...

Yesterday, there was the "big" MTF where the race was essentially still in the balance. LL raced as if he'd rather back into a win by having the others fall off instead of either attacking or actively riding them off his wheel. His only "risk" was that he attacked with less than 500m to go. It was a low risk, low reward strategy and typical of his riding style. He had a good race, but when the animations came he plodded along as usual, following those making efforts. Only after Loveboat/TASK/insert today's acronym nickname had made the decisive move did we see any life from LL.

The viewers and forum members see that he is in relatively little difficulty throughout the climb, as well as throughout the whole TdS, yet they have not seen him anywhere except comfortably riding any wheel he can find. He has made zero attempt to animate the race.

Essentially the forum rages at the guy who rides the "schadenfreude" type of race. Always hoping for the misfortune of others so his steady style rises near the top, but never to the top.

It is important to note that it was not the last climbing stage, and it was the "big" one. Aggressive riders see the profile and think, "Where can I get time? Where can I attack?" LL sees the profile and thinks, "Uh oh, I better not do anything stupid because I might get dropped here. Or there. Better just hold tight and see what happens." He then calculates what he needs to do on the TT.

For Leopard-Trek, I have no explanation. Their tactics seemed strange and the forum viewers, looking on from the outside, want to see a leader in trouble having to dig deep to preserve a lead. They do not want to see the race leader getting a tow up to the finish.

Basically, Leopard-Trek allowed DC to pull a LL and that's not gonna sit well.:D:D

/OK, it was a reach, but how was that? I particularly liked my psychological insight/nonsense into what LL was thinking.

Rojas is on his way to make the top 20 in the GC of the Tour de Suisse. He has been performing great all year and deserves a big(ger) win soon. Now he's climbing so well, I can see him winning San Sebastian, and he would make a great Spanish champion, too. I hope he'll make Movistar"s Tour squad?

Hmmm... Schleck isn't exactly gaining time quickly on de Gendt.
Yeah but he will be able to claim he dropped Hincapie on a climb.. that's something, no?

Matthias Frank did the best attack. pity Levi shut it down. If only Lampre had stopped the break from going, Frank would have won.

Yes there was wind that skewed the results but Cunego wll lose two minutes no problem on this course.

Frank's acceleration was very strong!!!! I would even call it vicious! He and Kruisiwijk were unlucky to not get a gap on the leaders as leopard Trek are ****s.

I think Cunego will be more motivated now and perform better. If not Kruijswijk actually stands a chance even (besides Leipheimer)
