yup, the ticker said so...time wise we know nothing else...

i asked Laura Weislo who was at the press conference, and she didnt know what the gap was.

i think it might be a secret.

edit: seen the above post.

so four now within 30 seconds

Looks like Henao has a huge shot at taking this.

I watched the entire race from the course. When the break went off, nobody thought it would stick. Then RadioShack imploded and it was on.

Two RS guys missed the time cut today. It was brutally hot. Crowds were huge by the Capitol. Got some nice photos. There was a big screen TV that broadcast the entire race.

Great race to watch. Crowds were lined up along the Avenues neighborhood.

That profile hides the hardest part of the final climb, which is the inaptly named "Tanner's Flat." That section is 13%, and it's just a beast at that point in the race.

By the way, that's not the entire profile, it hides the first climb, which is up to Jordanelle Reservoir. The break will go off there, without a doubt. It's a steady 6-7%.

Just FYI, those profiles are averages. There are much steeper pitches in those climbs. The second climb in that profile goes up to 8% at the beginning for about 1k or so. The descent is at -10% for 2 miles, so look for speeds of over 60mph.

Gobernacion will throw down the gauntlet, without a doubt. We are looking at a cooling front moving in, bringing temps to about 86 fahrenheit.

I would like to see Gobernacion take it! I know that is not very nationalistic but I like the way they ride! :)

BTW, kudos to Chris Baldwin today from his home town. He and teammate Paul Mach really did swell in the sufferfest!
I'm proud of Chris!!

That's almost the case with me. My family's Mexican. And although Mexico ain't Colombia, Venezelua, Argentina, etc, I still get filled with joy when I see a South American rider win. Just like today

I would love to see Mancebo win this. I really would.

However, if he does not, I would like to see Sevilla or Henao.

Teejay would be a deserving winner as well.

Anybody but Leipheimer.

My thoughts exactly.

It seems like Gobernacion did very well today. Aside from getting the win, Radio Shack disintegrated. I heard that two Shack riders were eliminated, but cyclingnews shows them as finishing thirty minutes down. Were the rules bent to keep them in the race?

Hopefully Jani gets to ride for himself tomorrow, but I doubt it.
Henao should have this in the bag, but maybe when they all look to Sergio then Sevilla might go up the road.

Should be good! Hope the cameras focus on the top riders, and I hope the commentator from today returns.

No, they're out of the race. I watched the whole thing. One RS rider almost got lapped. They really gave everything for Leipheimer today. RS riders were leading the group, then the next lap they were off the back.

I take my hat off to those guys. It was a tough day to be a support rider for RS.

Man, I can tell you that being out there for 5 hours, it was brutal. I rode up a canyon in the morning, then rode out to watch the race. I watched it from beginning to end. Today was the hottest day of the year. No question about it. I rode home and felt every degree.

I really do have much respect for all the riders today.

I also hope Jani gets to ride for himself! But he will most likely end up pacing Levi on the climb, chasing back Henao and Sevilla.

Just like the Volta. On Friday, they rode 215kms, over rough, rolling Portuguese roads, in temperatures that maxed out at 108!

Hope today they have the sense not to slavishly follow any break, but keep a functioning camera or two with the GC contenders.
Bound to be a Columbian ambush. No place to run to, no place to suck.

maybe, after yesterday showing from gobernacion, smebody will understand why i wanted colombian teams in ToC and why i think there is plenty of talented riders in colombia and sputh america that are capable of doing well in european cycling, under the condition that they are given time and means to adjust to the new reality.

Yes, yes, and yes!
