because he had zero racing days in his legs as did the complete team apart from quintana, imagine how strong they will be in a month
Evans won the Tirreno with one race day in the legs. Some riders don't need race days to find form.

It gets a bit annoying when every good result by a Colombian is great!!!, and every bad result is because they don't have the form/are sick/are unmotivated/etc.

I see. Pretty decent result in that case, tho it isn't unheard off if the rider has trained well. Amazing is a bit much

edit:

I see him causing lots of headaches to AConta in the Giro....

Why? Contador seemingly easily beat him on an relatively easy climb. Would Contador be that much weaker on double-digit climbs for Scarponi to become a problem?

I don't think so, AC is much better in the mountains. The short steep stuff, Scarponi is good at, but on climbs like Zoncolan it will be good night.

Sure that isn't Mauricio Ardila Cano ?

it's his cousin alex cano ardila :)

it shows incredible potential because I could name 10 or 15 colombians that are better climbers than him and he already shows this with 0 racing days. I can't wait for what is coming _O_

Dunno if this is you trying to have a go at me ( :D ), but it was sarcasm, for a long time I have suggested Evans is great on the short steep stuff (like T-A) and not a top tier rider in the mountains, thus he has no chance at the tour.

He pretty much came where I expected it.

He did okay, same time as Basso. I'm actually a little more disappointed with Ivan the Terrible. I expected him to stick with Contador a little longer, but maybe this is just his level.

Hm, not great by Mollema. Good result by Pieter Weening though.
Meh, I can't see Mollema climbing with Basso etcetera really. I always thought he was a class below Gesink in pure talent for example, even though winning avenir. Right now, he simply not of that level yet, I didn't expect him to finish top ten here either. Not when you see those names,

It's okay to be happy. It's not okay to consider all the other riders cowards (and to keep saying that).

My dislike of contador, cavendish and especially andy schleck has nothing to do with this. I have my believes in the cycling of colombia and I'm happy and passionate about it. to me riders like andy schleck stand for why cycling in europe has gotten so stale and boring, of course under the guidance of riis, who now has contador which makes me fear even more he will become the most efficient rider instead of the most exciting rider.

in the end cycling as all sports is not just about winning more than all about entertainment for the people. much entertainment can come out of winning but not all to me. chiapucchu has never won a gt in his career but is to this day a legend in italy that has had far greater winners than chiapucchi but no el diablo like chiapucchi, same with pantani. these are mythical riders not for their wins but for their hearts

Wtf De Maar...

Best result for "my team" in a while with Marc and Kevin.

Seems like a typical March result though, so not a whole lot we can read into this.

De Maar wants to focus on riding gc classifications and getting better at climbing. He was always a rider for small tours and hilly classics at the espoir.

He was used as pure helper by Rabobank in cobbled classics, not his thing. And then at United Healthcare rediscovered his love for riding uphill, time trials and classifications.
He has some catching up to do, but compared to Paris Nice he is already getting better. :)

But when you see the names he finishes with... Weening and Ten Dam are decent riders, but Mollema simply has more talent.
