Not sure why everyone thinks wiggins will struggle on the descent.

Descended just fine in the dauphine, although granted he had eddie boss leading him down, and "may not descent well because of his accident"... well last i remember his accident didnt happen on a wet descent, or a descent come to that. Dont see why that will make any difference.

To be fair, Wiggins has admited in interviews that he's been nervous on the decents because of the TDF crash.

The Ancares descent is actually taylor-made for Nibali, especially if it's wet. He could easily take 1:00-1:30 on Wiggins and anybody else really. If he manages to get part of his team with him again, then it's maybe even worth trying.
He said he won't be attacking on these stages unless Wiggins or a high-placed rider attacks.

nah, he said he wouldn't attack unless someone like Wiggins shows weakness, that's quite a difference

The GC riders will conserve their energy for the subsequent harder stages.
Think it will be too hard for Sagan.
Moncoutie will definitely be after the KOM points.
Perhaps Lulu for a win!

Some people here need to think.

Why would Nibali attack a descent midway the stage and flame on for another 50/60km, knowing that tomorrow and sundays stages are very hard...
The minute he can gain with it (and this at very best, most likely he will get caught) will turn into 3/4/5 minutes deficit if you throw your energy away like that.

Some people think way too optimistically or have basically no idea of energy handling in a GT.

A group of 30 or so have formed in front. KOM leaders Montaguti and Moncoutie are in it.

I don't think it's much about attacking on his own, but if someone like Rodriguez shows weakness (he looked exhausted yesterday) he could put the hammer down and wait for the other favorites to follow.
I've no idea how big the field will be on the Ancares but if Nibali would break away with the other favorites (let's say a group of ~30 riders) it would be very difficult for a dropped rider to come back to the front

Cofidis thinks it's a TT in duo today, Taaramae and Moncoutié try to get away from the bunch...

Funny skyprocycling gives the pack together and on the vuelta site they say Nibali is one of the escapees...

Nibali is in the break - they have 22 seconds, guess Sky is riding pretty hard (and that the other riders in the break are giving Nibali the angry eye)
