Taaramae lost no time despite feeling ill.

Kascheckin seems to be a flop and Kiserlovski is not really himself this season. Kangert blogged, that Kascheckin and Kiserlovski went off the back on first climb already! Kangert went after them and got them back up, but had nothing to do when they fell off the back on the 2nd one.

Where does he blog?

Good insight info which combined with what I read on Galdeano's comments on Anton suggesting he's not as good in 2010. We're going to find out as soon as tomorrow with Sierra Nevada's stage...

Galdeano only said that each year is other, when he answered the question if after last year, now they have a goal to win a Vuelta. He also said that they (his and Anton's) goal is podium, but everything is possible. Or maybe you were talking about other interview?

About Anton...

He is very easy to spot even from helicopter shots with his weird arm position. With about 1 km to go to the top he was up in top 10-15 positions on the right side of the group looking pretty comfortable. Nieve was on the left side, with 1 random rider between them. And then Anton started dropping like a stone through the group indicating either a mechanical or a huge bonk. They changed the shot back to lead group before he actually got dropped.

I suppose they would have sent at least Verdugo back to get him if he was in some kind of trouble.

Strange, all in all.

according to the rabobank website kruijswijk had a mechanical (broken spoke) when the action started. That is a shame.
Still wasn't a disaster how much time he has lost in regards to a possible top 10.

Only 2 Sky riders with Wiggins in first 100 finishers :(.
Froome finished with Wiggins in front group.
88th Thomas Lövkvist at 6 minutes in second group.
Were the others told to throttle back and save it for tomorrow?

They may have popped themselves raising the pace early on the climb. In theory, Wiggins should have some pretty decent climbing support.

Yes,certainly nice to see roche give it a poke at the end. Clearly not for time but borne out of frustration for well ropey season. Pity de weert and taaramae losing loads. Is that what happens when young riders pushed into two gts a season?

Cofidis didn't have Taaramae in their plans for the Vuelta, but Taaramae himself insisted on riding the Vuelta as he was feeling very good. Cofidis was hesistant at first, but Taaramae and his coach convinced them.

Yeh a real shame, but this is better then having to hear he just couldn't follow.

\lovkvist was actually about 1.20 behind the leaders group and according to reports he was one of the people raising the pace on the climb.

I know very few Estonian riders who don't have a blog in here: http://www.rattaprofid.ee/blogi
Dunno how accurate the google translator is to translate them, but if you need, I can provide help aswell. Rein Taaramäe has blogged every single stage and race in the year that he has raced, and he does that in the night right after the race. He also does monthly overviews which is quite interesting.

Poor, poor, poor by Menchov. On a cat 3 as well. What's happened to Geniez???. Poor Stevo and who all grab the jersey on stage 4. Lastras, Chavanel, Fuglsang or Nibali. I can envisage Nibali using his team to control the race.

It is amusing how often people will just make race results up to suit their perspective.

I expect it in the clinic - will be a pity if it starts happening here as often.

Not looking good for Menchov to lose so much time early in the race. Even his mediocre team mate Sastre finished ahead of him.

Apparently his seat slipped down just before they started the climb so he was right at the back when the split formed. By the time Geox sent some guys back to help (after De la Fuente's bizarre attack), it was too late. At least, that is what Matxin is saying.

I think that's the main difference though. In the tour teams would go crazy, even if it cost them later on. It doesn't make the tour a better race though, just different. There's a far greater focus on getting publicity in the tour than there is in the Giro or Vuelta.

Heinrich haussler

I think I went through 20 bottles during stage 2. I had one nature break during the stage so it just shows you what we’re going through. I was going through bottles every 5km so by the time I’d finished my drinks it was time to head back to the car and pick up more for me and the other guys.

On a physical level the heat means that you really have to gauge your strength and timing. If you go deep just once then you're going to pay for and chances are you're not going to recover.

comparing this years TdF

Cast your mind back to the Tour de France. It was raining and raining nearly every day...

Ya, google translate does a strange job sometimes but it's possible to get the gist of what's said if you have some imagination.
