you guys complain about dopers and riding 'clean', then you complain about boring, non-aggressive racing, pick one and stick with it. You can't have both

Scarponi saying they made a mistake in not pushing harder when Hesjedal struggled in some stages during the first two weeks. Time for regretting dull racing.

Your argument is convincing.

No. No no no no no no no no. That's not how it is. Stop repeating this nonsense. The 90s were much more conservative than the 80s.

Hard tempo riding = boring. I hate to come with Contador, but it's much more better to see, when there is a rider, who just attacks, and don't stop after 100m. I was waiting on Giau someone to attack, but nothing happened. If it was exciting to you, then it's good, but after 16 stages my expectations was much higher, so for me after all it was boring. Sorry.

Disagree.

Give me hard tempo riding, riders dropping like flies over last km attacks any time of the day. Of course hard tempo riding can only be fully appreciated on the steep stuff. The way the climb started and finished was fantastic as far as I'm concerned. I still think the pace dropped off a bit and basso was holding back a bit, I'm not convinced he is all that worried about dropping scarponi today. If he was gonna win the giro, it wasnt by eliminating him today, sure it helps.

Did anyone see the ease which basso closed hesjedal down. Im feeling confident for ivan :)

It wasn't boring today, far from it. The fact is though that once the final group had been reduced to 6 men, absolutely nothing of relevance happened.

Totally agree with you.
They were not riding hard for most of Giau when they formed that 6 man group.

Contador is an unreasonable comparison. He has a built in climbing advantage over everyone accept Andy Schleck, so of course he can attack and just ride away.
It was just an example, still I waited for an attack after 16 stage, but still nothing.

+1 And there is no need to contrast different styles. Both can be entertatining, hard tempo and fast accelerations. Today was good stage.

Scarponi and Uran showed a bit of climbing weakness relative to the other four.

Evans was much more entertaining in last year's Tour than Basso in this year's Giro.

Not really it was the protagonists who forced Evans hands who were entertaining. Evans would have happily sucked wheels all tour.

To each his own, but I quite enjoyed the stage. High hard tempo when everybody is on their limit isn't the same as the happy uphill Astana parade in the 2009 Tour. It is not like they didn't want to attack; it was just impossible for them. Besides, if Contador was here in top form, no matter how exciting would have been today's stage, the Giro would probably be already over before the most difficult stages.

Lol, that's quite strange reasoning you have there. Of course it depends on what the other cyclists do, that's always going to be the case in every single race. Meanwhile Basso actually HAS to attack if he wants to win this Giro. He rode away from Samu and Contador on one stage even though he could've just sucked wheel. No offence, but you're wrong.

Yes, that is you oppinion, but I have mine too, and I will not, and can't change it. I never expected much from the Tour, but from the Giro yes, but this race so far is far under my expectations. As I wrote before, then only good thing is that Hesjedal looks strong.
