Majka solidifies his upcomer rep a bit by coming 3rd just behind those 2 there.

He came in a podium favorite and he got a podium.

He was worth only 97 CQ points and now he's worth 260! Come on Majka, your messing up my CQ team!

Anybody else wondering how much one last win for Liquigas cost Ivan? As has been said Dan Martin has a good sprint whereas Basso most certainly doesn't.
Seems like Dan Martin attacked like 3 or 4 times while Basso mostly wheelsucked him, so that probably explains it. An uphill sprint like that has a lot to do with who has the most energy left in their legs.

Reminds me of the sprint Fabian Wegmann - Karsten Kroon at Henninger Turm 2009... Kroon was said to have chosen a small gear, kept his cadence, so it looked like a real sprint. Wegmann was the winner everyone in Germany wanted.

Maybe it was the same here with Basso, but, as others already mentioned here, Basso beat Duarte in the finale of Lugano or Insubria in one of the last editions of one of these two races.

martin is actually really fast

He's a bit of a Boogerd. Often getting outsprinted by people he shouldn't be, but will place top three in a sprint of 30/40

Saw this elsewhere: Bikecam from Robbie McEwen in the crit, 45 mins worth!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2e3Kyw4z30

That was really interesting footage. Robbie trails a Saxo rider during the last few laps then joins on to a couple of the Orica boys. If you watch it during the 40min mark he drops off the Saxo rider and on to Beppu, who then loses him before the final corner. Robbie catches him in the final run in and just tells him to go. Great acceleration too from Beppu.

Great insight to an almost successful finishing sprint.

He oviously tried to get Beppu up there which would be a great boost for his team in the japanese market.
