Vanendert and Basso rode a good pace that killed off Evans. "When Cadel rode next to me on the Aspin, I thought he looked like he could be dropped [...] Basso rode at a real high pace; it almost dropped me and VDB2. On the peyersourde I told Basso to ride just a notch slower. Then we could have shared the pacemaking and we could have distanced Evans even further"

"Froome struggled at one moment also. Everyone was on the limit, and then small things make a difference."

VDB2 announced that he will fire up the old engine today....

De aankomst bergop in Peyragudes moet me in principe beter liggen. Ik ga proberen te knallen.'

It's nice of Liquigas to come to the front and give Sky a break for a while...

I don't get this strategy either?

Hold the break at a reasonable distance that Nibali can get back in it off the descent of the Bales??

Still a loooong way til then...

Liquigas should save this for the Bales. Teams trying to challenge Sky this year have either been too weak, have got their tatics wrong or both.

Nibali for the stage win ....that's why they don't let the break get too far ahead

Phil and Paul keep saying that Nibali wants to win the stage. I think they're actually trying to keep it together for Sagan to get the points at the intermediate sprint. Call me crazy, but when you've got a winning horse, you put your money on it.

Good to hear that. Yesterday was VdBs off day after the rest day, but today I hope he will attack.

Points are points, prize money is prize money. If I were in the green jersey, I'd want to get every sprint I could too.

I'm not saying that it IS their tactic, but it isn't outside the realm of possibility. It doesn't really matter though, Nibali won't attack outside of 5km to go, because the Sky riders are enjoying not setting the pace at the moment and will be more than able to reel any attacks back in with no trouble.

Oh wait. Sky back on the front.

Radioshack claims that they will protect Zubeldia, BMC will protect TJs white jersey. But I didn't see any teammates when Zubeldia fell off, or now when TJ was at the back with some kind of issue. Being protected looks good on paper.
