Sky got the timing all wrong. Wiggins hit the front at 1.2km with only Rowe and Cavendish behind him, and stopped at something like 7-800 to go. Cavendish saw that Rowe couldn't keep going far enough, so let a few people pass him.

Leigh Howard wins from cock up Cav.
Boy Van Pop takes over the lead in the GC,
as Luke Rowe coasts home, just behind the sprint.

Not so much a Sky shambles as Cavendish losing Rowe's
wheel by easing off far too much and far too early, approaching the final bend.

Oh Mr. Porter!

Laughable commentary again in the last couple of hundred metres. Getting completely flustered, tripping over words, calling the wrong result after getting it initially right and I'm sure he was telling us about a new team called Orica Orange Edge.

Did you hear him commentating over the replay as if it was live? Obviously so that can be used in the highlights show and it'll sound like he actually knows what's going on.

Amateur hour from Cav. It was a technical finish which Rowe could have comfortably delivered him to with 200m to go and he decides to drop back behind all the other sprinters.

He wants to demonstrate that the Sky leadout doesn't work, thus giving him a reason to leave ;)

Think the highlights programmes are worth watching - at least we get to see more of what are generally front heavy stages..

JTL on 'The Cycle Show' now. Legend.

Tomorrows stage could be interesting. Exposed moorlands to start with and then a run in to Dumfries which looks like having direct crosswinds of between 25 and 35 kph. Could cause a decent split.

There's the potential that things could split early. However, I'd imagine Sky will control it for a sprint and only try and split it if there's a chance towards the end.

Can see what's left of Garmin trying to split the race to pieces tomorrow. Also expect Endura to try something as it's their 'home' stage.

Watched this today on Morridge, good crowds.

So many Sky fans out there, its like the sea of Man United shirts that hit the streets in the mid 90s! One lad had the full works, FULL kit, including socks & Dogma, BUT, hairy legs AND struggling big time. If youre going to go that fan boyish, at least get out on the bike.......

Haven't seen the highlights yet, but should be fun :D

What a boring sprint...must be the end of the season.

Cav sitting up made no sense. Why?

Wow, seeing Van Poppel, and having watched his dad kick **** back in the day makes me feel nostalgic...and old.

Sounds like one of those days where the peloton splits early and a group of 20 or so are left to fight for GC.

I watched a few K remaining last night and dont understand why Cavendish seemed to sit up in the final K?

The live coverage I didnt see any of the climbs, were they on it?

Nah, the climbs were passed before the Live coverage started. Guess today will be similar too.

The highlights package does seem to cover the whole day though..

Ah good, Ive set them to record rather than the live coverage.

Then its a bonus I dont have to listen to Hugh for as long :)

Luke Rowe said the plan was for him to deliver Cav to the dip in the road that was a couple of hundred metres before the finish line, and then Cav would get the slingshot from the downhill part up to the line. Cav appeared to decide at the last minute that doing this from behind Luke was not going to be as successful as getting on someone else's wheel on the other side of the road, so he switched sides and tried to get a tow behind another rider, but ended up 5th or 6th wheel and got blocked in the sprint.

The slingshot idea was a good one, but he ran out of road, having to come from too far back. But if Sky had another rider in the leadout, perhaps he would not have switched. Hopefully he/they won't make the same mistake today.

Yeah, thats all I would do.

Stiill, whilst I'm at home recovering from being driven into by a car, I shall enjoy the live coverage too! :)

Whereabouts on the hill were you, I was stood under the big Wiggo flag with the fluorescent top and rain mac.
Did you see the poor dear who drove down the hill in her car before the race arrived, and had to do the steepish 3 point turn :p
