Hugh Porter seems to think he's only there to cheerlead for Sky. It's easier for him to shout Cav than attempt foreign tongues. And I'm more interested in hearing about Greenedge's relatively under-resourced success in the ToB, than the progress of the Sky juggernaut.

It's a shame too that Cavendish's mistake took Farrar out in Norwich because Tyler had just got some form with his wins in Colorado.

Pretty tough names for him to remember with the OGE boys, Howard, Lancaster, Hepburn, Bobridge.....ok Kroupis is a bit tougher :)

I don't like knocking the blokes, it just seems like commentating 101 to learn the names of a good percentage of the field, especially those who are likely to feature in the finish.

Just read on Twitter that they are looking at an alterbnative finish due to high winds as currently the 1km banner keeps blowing down.

If this is the case surly they will have to look at alternatives for next season?

Pfft Surely just take down the banner in that case

Decent crosswinds are more exciting in my mind than calm days anyway.

To be fair to Porter, it's a big ask for someone who clearly takes no interest whatsoever in road racing to commentate on just two races all year. How do people expect him to recognise the riders? It's not a shock that he called Hunt as the winner on stage one as Hunt was probably still a sprinter the last time he commentated on a race which he was participating in.

High used to compete on the road, so I dont get where you get that from. He also commentates on Cross races throughout the season and other racing too.

He was great at the National CX race a few years back, but its time for him to retire, he is cyclings version of Murray Walker.

Was actually glad the mountains (!) jersey changed hands yesterday. Cannot handle any more Eskatel Eskaday pronunciation.
Now then............

Endura, Greenedge & Sky primarily drilling it. Good to see Leigh Howard tapping through in the yellow too.

EDIT; When I say greenedge, I actually mean Howard. I think he's their only rider in the front group?

Bradley has stripes on his arm - presumably as previous UK road race champion. I don't remember seeing them before. Did he wear them in the first few days of the tour?

It would be nice it Porter could drop the Wiggins/Sky/Cav/Endura homage for a moment and figure out who else is left in the lead group......

I quite liked "Van Poppel is in the Chain Reaction Cycles sprints jersey" without telling us what fricking colour that jersey is :D

Anyway, Cav wins, big gap to 2nd group

Having watched the 20 odd kms of the echelon, the finish and the extended Sky love in, post race chat, I still have no idea who the solitary Liquigas rider was.
I suspect it was Basso, but never having seen a clear shot and with no the slightest reference, throughout...........

Still, they seem to have realised that Sep Vanmarcke is in the race.

He also does some commentary at the Rutland Melton classic. Even more embarasing there as he knows hardly any of the riders.
