Is the road steeper than it looks on the race route? looks like a false flat now, but trailing off riders seems to imply otherwise.

Or maybe altitude is doing its job.

It's not "steep" yet and never gets super steep on this side of the pass. The downhill is steeper.

Lizard Head was an old railroad grade for an old train they called "the Galloping Goose" so not steep

Hincapie doesn't have much of a chance of winning the overall, Tejay does. And having Danielson and Nibali in the break over 3 minutes up the road is a big danger to Tejay winning the overall.

Yes, makes sense, but no doubt BMC want George to get a stage somewhere, given this is supposedly his last race. We may well see him go in the break each day in hope.
