Michael Van Stayen's 10th gets 26 points for Vladimir, launching him 3 places (to 36th) and Chris Sutton sneaked into the final scoring position, getting 5 points each for 7 teams: Ruudzor (stays 5th), Afrank (stays 11th), Hilltop finisher (up 1 to 20th), Blackbandit222 (stays 22nd), August (stays 34th), Ingsve (nevertheless drops to 37th because of Vladimir) and Al Pacino (stays 38th).

Not a race many people had in mind when making their selections.

If anyone wants to do their own calculations for the final stages, or to check that I have their data correct in the calculations I have posted, here is the spreadsheet I've been using (or the vast majority of it).

Race by race breakdown can be achieved by changing the formula in column AY from referencing column D to referencing the column for the race/races of interest.

I should emphasise that this is not the "official" results service, which is Hugo's to present.

Really appreciate what you've done so far. While MC Mountain is Cancellaring away off the front and a couple of would-be Sagans try and hold his wheel, I am left to stalk the chasing group, hoping to GVA my way to a 4th-placed finish.

RMeloa has both Canc and Vanmarcke and Langeveld: has taken the lead, as mc mountain has Cancellara, but no other top ten finisher.

AFrank has Cancellara, Vanmarcke, Stybar and Langeveld: 640 points just from the top ten.

Thank you Cancellara! Putting it all on him turned out to be a good plan.
Now hopefully I don't fall down too far in the Ardennes, as I have no Ardennes guys. Maybe schleck will pull off the performance of his career. I know, fat chance.

If we were to ignore all other riders, and simply consider what Phillippe Gilbert might do, then him doing a 2011 and winning all four races would see Ruudzor, Hugo Koblet and 18-Valve all overtaking the two breakaway leaders to fill the podium.

If PG were to come second in all 4 remaining races, then rmeloa and mc mountain would retain the top two places, and the three named above would be 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.

A win in Liege, and three second places, for Gilbert would put Ruudzor as winner by 3 points. Minor placings could yet be all important.

Other than Gilbert, and barring the sudden re-emergence of Schleck as a contender (and of these 5 teams, only 18-Valve lacks him), there are no obvious Ardennes major point scorers in any of the teams that might be up there to challenge.

My plan was to stay in touch until the Ardennes where most teams would be weak. Unfortunately Boonen's injury together with Cancellara's super form has wrecked any chance i had. Maybe for the best though as my once savvy Ardennes picks (Vanendert, Hermans and Slagter) appear to be in questionable form.

I guess it all hinged on the decision to abstain from taking Cancellara, but some guys like Nuyens and Hushovd have been disappointing
