I agree - very strange last 2 K for those guys from Sky - looked like Kennaugh didn't realize that G was his teammate - he was jumping wheels all over the place when there was lots of room to just follow his wheel - although he did seem to get lost on one of the late corners.
Doesn't make sense from a World Tour points perspective for Sky really, since only the top 5 riders per team contribute to your Team Ranking - at least as far as the UCI is concerned:

"Art. 2.10.004: The team ranking is obtained by adding up the points obtained by the five best riders in the individual ranking"

Maybe country points for the World champs work differently - but maybe Sky just have a weird belief in Kennaugh and want to get him experience finishing things off? Although I thought he was the next great British GT guy in the making? I'm worried about Sky building another EBH with him.

Nah it's all about the number of riders having scored world tour points. Obviously G is a much better sprinter than Kennaugh, but G has already scored WT points.
UK has 7 scoring riders at present. Would like to have its full quota of 9.

Not going so well for Vacansoleil. De Gendt losing more time, Westra crashing and even Wout Poels lost over two minutes today. All that after an anonymous Giro (one top ten stage finish was it?). :(

They need to Santambrogize. And they need to do it fast.

Glad for Viviani who finally got a win but nobody mentioned his "confraternita" salute. :D

yeah kiri has plenty work to do this weekend

“The main goal today though was for Richie and Froomey not to lose any time, and we did that well. The rest of the team are fine – Vasil [Kiryienka] was tired today but he’s coming off a big training block and his condition will improve every day.”

Has he been on a bigger training block than the rest of Sky?
