I think Eisel's overreacting to the point of being disingenuous. Considering he was part of the HTC train and all.

That's one of the best sprints of Cav ever I think; virtually no train, closing a big hole himself in the final 500m, boxed in, slows down and still comes around the longer way for the win. Hugely impressive.

all at speed, very impressive

need for speed

The only cool thing about sprints is the fighting for position.

and the speed.....................coolest is a rider celebrating victory just as they are passed milimetres before the finish line

great win for cav today.............great rider.........he earned it

Very boring stage until the final minutes. Great sprint from Cav to close and then travel further around the outside than the rest.

Look forward to tomorrows TTT shaking thing up a little, although cant see huge gaps.

It was the other way round. Blythe had Cav's wheel, and Bouhanni decided he wanted it.
And he got it. That's sprinting. Eisel is getting old maybe.

Bouhanni is faster than Eisel ever was.

Only strong point that Eisel has to offer is his experience, which is clear after so many years. Other strenghts: his mouth maybe, which is big.

He benefited a lot from being so close to Cavendish in his HTC days. Without Cavendish, Eisel would be a nobody, which he now, at Sky, has become again.

He won Gent-Wevelgem against a relatively weak lead group, and was a mediocre sprinter in his FdJeux days.

Tosatto is a similar rider to him, and Tosatto is not half as arrogant and big-mouthed as Eisel. Can´t wait for the classics in spring 2014, when Bernie will get dropped every two or three days between San Remo and Roubaix again.

Oh well, he'll have to make do with celebrating helping to win yellow again this year as way of compensation for being useless.

Goss is really horrible

Yea, just watched it, GreenEDGE set him up and he could not even place 3rd, epic fail for them or actually Goss. Is this when the lead out train trash talks the sprinter ;)

You might think so, especially since even average Tour stage threads get more hits and replies on cyclingnews than threads about critical Giro stages and monuments.

However, the good news is that you too can become a condescending elitist in three simple steps:
1) Choose a random guy who makes lots of pointless attacks and never wins.
2) Confidently announce his chances for thriumph before and during any stage repeatedly.
3) Mock decent-ish GC riders who have a habit of choking when it matters. Remember that it's always better to be negative than positive since far more riders lose than win in any particular race.

Ideally the rider in #1 and #2 actually takes part in the race you're talking about, but that's not a strict requirement.

;)

Quality:D Should be a sticky!

Nice win by Cav. Would prefer if Viviani won instead.

I know this is 1st stage only but it was pretty boring. Fell asleep 3 or 4 times during the stage...
