the Tour prizes are nothing... for such big event as Tour they are laughable really comapred to football or tennis or golf.

It's the publicity they get from having yellow or white that gets them the money, not the tour prizes.

Yeah I guess, I know europcar as a team puts a lot of importance on the intermediate sprints , stage wins etc for money reasons though.

I remember Europcar saying that Rolland's white jersey at the TDF 2011 funded most of their 2012 season.

Edit: I think tommy V's 10 days in yellow brought in quite a bit of cash too.

Maybe in a metaphorical sense. Surely having a French rider in the white jersey or holding yellow for a while is a great fundraising tool for a French team. The prize money itself is not that impressive.
