Of course it was. I know that some key players dropped out, but this Giro had the last two TdF winners (Evans and Wiggins) and the last two Giro winners (Scarponi and Hejsedal) at the starting line.

No Contador, no Froome, no Purito and others, but this is typical of the Giro, where some buig names don't ride because their focus is on France.

The conditions made this stage an epic win for Nibali. He beat a ton of great climbers today.
