Anyway I've got a feeling Gavazzi might take this, dunno why.

Ascension Day, you know this Christian thing. I looked it up and apparently in Italy and some other countries it's 'celebrated' 7 days before Whitsun, instead of ten like in Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, etc. You learn every day.

Anyway, a Cavendish snoozefest this will probably be.

Cavendish surely, although I still don't trust the OPQS lead-out. Maybe Viviani can take advantage.

Don't mind a couple of flat stages in GT's, you want the best sprinters to come aswel as GC/stage hunter guys. No one is going to tie you down and force you to watch this (unless you like that kind of thing) so stop moaning.

I didn't see any HC mountains yesterday or in stage 12

Perhaps it's possible to make a sprinter stage that isn't completely flat

You're so right about it...but! Now that you mention it, I still prefer the more complete RaboBlancoFail.
It fills you with an aesthetic sense of pure fail coming from the bad ole' Rabo days. which the team never got over.

Nahhh you are no different..you say we complaint and then you whine about us complaining. Who says we want HC climbs of MTF everyday?

This is a perfectly fine cycling stage. While chances are it may not be spectacular until the last few kilometers, I feel that stages should be contended at varying terrains to allow for varying types of riders to win. It's a race, not a circus.

This giro, so far, fits that criteria very well. Today's a 'clean' sprinter's stage, the first actually.

Of course, it's probably Cav who's going to take this one, but as I think that he's not in perfect shape, although he doesn't have to be to win sprints, other sprinters might be close. Degenkolb's final pull yesterday was impressive, although I don't think he's got the pure top speed like Cav. However, if he gets lucky, meaning him getting a great position with Cav's train delivering him at a gap again, he might get it.

I don't really dig Viviani, but I would like Bouhanni to surprise mem

fwiw, I think they got the 1st week right this time.

If it was all done on a computer, perhaps the last climb on stage 4 should have been somewhat steeper to allow for a bit more GC clean up before the 1st rest day.

But really when riders step up and race like they have done, its hard to ask for more.

In stage one he lost his lead-out to a mechanical, closed a gap himself in the final km, had to back off to get round the radioshack guys trying to block him in and still managed to win against Goss and Viviani who had perfect leadouts. He looks in pretty good shape to me...

I don't understand the hate for sprinter stages. Sprinter stages are so much more exciting than mountain stages. They require better team coordination, better tactics, better bike handling, more rider skill, more daring and so much more exciting. I would love to see a tour with 17 sprint stages, 1 prologue, 1 TTT, 1 classic stage and 1 mountain stage. It would be so much more exciting than the made for the ADHD masses TV events we see now.
