That's where the in theory part came in. He took about half a minute, so I'd say you were right and he spent to much energy earlier on (probably with his 3rd time at the first checkpoint).

Would not surprise me. If I were Wiggins (especially if he's ill) I'd just drop out and focus on the Tour now, I don't think he's interested in riding for a top 10 spot.
