Overslept and missed all but the last 20k. And of course it turns out to be a great edition.

I'm sad for Stybar but happy to see Terpstra on the podium. I see Van Avermaet raced after all. We shouldn't have taken him out of the poll.

I see the top 16 results. Can someone quickly tell me about the following, crash/mech or dropped:

Roelandts
Pozzato
Phinney
Hushovd
Chavanel
Sky:eek:

Chavanel had a flat at a decisive moment and lost his place in one of the front groups.
Pozzato was just...Pozzato, just not good enough.
Hushovd just not strong enough I think, plus he had to chase back on 3 times due to flats.
No idea about Phinney, disappointed in his ride, I expected more. Hopefully it was due to some kind of problem, but may be just a case of not being strong enough.

i think this was the most brutal race i've ever witnessed....44 km/h average...full gas from the beginning

first of all, chapeau to spartacus,in my opinion, the strongest man for classics in cycling history.
the level of vanmarcke was fascinating though i wish he could take the win. what a ride by him

sad about what happened to omega on carrefour de l'arbre. in my opinion, styby could have beaten maybe fabian. he looked so strong

and of course , GAUDIIIIINNNN _O_ !!!!!
too bad that he spent so much energy in useless attacks but in the next years, he will win roubaix i think. turgot was unlucky too with that puncture.

absolutely crazy race,loved it.

Cance can sprint when he's on his best...

Tour de France, Stage 21 : Créteil - Paris (95 km)

1. CAVENDISH Mark THR 2h27'02" 80
2. BOASSON HAGEN Edvald SKY 50
3. GREIPEL André OLO 35
4. FARRAR Tyler GRM 25
5. CANCELLARA Fabian LEO 15
6. OSS Daniel LIQ 10
7. BOZIC Borut VCD 5
8. VAITKUS Tomas AST 3
9. CIOLEK Gerald QST 2
10. ENGOULVENT Jimmy SAU

Roelandts
Didn't see him all race

Pozzato
Got caught behind a crash early. Think he rejoined at the back but didn't see him again

Phinney
Seemed to bury himself for the team. Set a cracking pace through arenberg and made the first selection of the day.

Hushovd
See previous PR editions

Chavanel
Missed the definitive move. Had two guys off the front so couldn't do much. Ended up driving the group 1 min off the pace

Sky:eek:
Stannard and EBH tried to go in a couple of moves. That was pretty much all they did

Hushovd had to chase too much. Punctures killed whatever chance he had.

Congrats on being right about Gaudin's greatness, well done :)

I also started believing in him, after I saw him flying on the cobbles in De Panne. What an absolute monster he is.

Roelandts -> flatted 2 times at horrible moments according to Lotto DS
Pozzato -> caught behind a fall but never looked good. He did return in the group Chavanel and Boom (also flat/mechanicals) but there he simply got dropped...
Hushovd -> not good enough (did have 1 mechanical early on though)
Chavanel -> like i said, mechanical (flat i believe)
Sky -> thomas fell, stannard fail, EBH fail.

If u wanna prove that Canceìs sprint isn't totally bad, i think the best example is 2011 WC

Be nice to see Thomas finish a race without crashing. His luck is definitely out at the moment.

To be honest, I wonder how much of this was because of Sky's lead up to the classics season. Rather than getting miles in the peloton during the traditional lead up races, they just went off for training.

I know that the cobble races are a crapshoot and its hard to predict what will happen. However, I always have a good bit of trouble getting used to riding with others after doing nothing but solo rides. And I only ride with a few people, not a giant peloton.
