Rolland and Burghardt closing in on the front group. If those guys are aware of Rolland nearing them they should put the hammer down now.

you keep saying that but fact is riders in colombia from whereveer they are all benefit from extreme heat. soler was born 3300 metres. he needed extreme heat to perform at his best and couldn't stand the cold or rain

Then what was going on in the first part of Vuelta '12 for Nairo?

What happend? He became world's best TTer. Pretty good going..

Sagan shouldn't win this. It's going be between Rolland and Poels I hope. Losada as a big dark horse.

Anyway, Sagan said himself if he wins lots of classics in future and dominates the field, he might change to a GC man iirc or something to that extent.

yea, thats true but it can last 5-6 years or forever
still it would be great if he wins at Mt.Ventoux:D

Pinot will take this one. They keep saying he's in great form and today he won't have to worry about descending. And after Ax3 he's been taking it easy, saving energy so he could save his Tour by taking a stage. Today's his best chance for that, barring he gets his head together.

He'll go early on the climb so he'll have a good lead before Froome decides to go. Then the crowd will cheer for him and give him yellow jersey-like powers and he'll hang on for the victory.

Pinot's got a fever. He won't be doing anything today.

Looks like a nice little race out there with the groups.

Chavanel being the best placed rider at +15 minutes probably means the break will win the stage imo.

Good to see Rolland having a go.

Is that speed correct? 52.1 km/h average for the first 70 km. That can't be right or there is a very strong tailwind.

don't understand why the front group shouldn't wait for rollands. We know rollands is interested only in the mountain points. He might even be happy to come second as the mountain points are doubled in the finish.

I didn't say they don't benefit from heat, I pointed out that the location of birth "would not be a reason for that".

Since you are generalizing that its all Colombians though, i would care to note that in the coldest stage of a gt in recent years, Colombians finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 9th.

Btw since we are on that topic and we haven't seen you here in a while, i thought i might ask what your reactions were to seeing Nibali outclimb them all like that. You ready to revise that list of 30 riders that can outclimb Nibali, you made earlier this year;)

What lol?

Bastille day. Most prestigious win for Frenchman you can get in a season.

Mount Ventoux. History.

Arguably a win here is worth more than Polka dot, I am sure Rolland will be going full on for stage win. As will all of them.

48 kmph hilly first hour. and silly us thought that they are tired after the last two days...

seems like they are working hard to not let rolland made it to the front

will movistar chase the breakaway, what do you think?or katusha, saxo?

will rollands be spending too much energy on bridging the gap, and hence getting dropped in ventoux?

Poels has been climbing well, cant be discounted.
Yeah, i forgot him. That would be sad day for the French.

In my opinion very good brake, and almost perfect for the finale. One very interesting battle for the stage, and one battle among GC riders.

umm, yeah, no;)

The guy has been living 2 years already off the fact that he has won L Alpe d' huez.

If he adds Ventoux to that list, madone, he could retire right there right then.
