What do you mean, no TTers who can climb. In this race alone, there's Costa, Westra, Klöden, Menchov, and Kwiatskowski ahead of Tony Martin. All TTers who can climb.

You forgot the best of them all

This race is over.

T. Martin takes it.

Edit: Is Boaro gonna ride T-A? Saxo can use a good TT'er.

I'am sure Rui Costa will give Tony Martin a good fight
Even Machado could surprise, but i never know with him, on a good day he can TT really well but he never excelled in long TT, so i don't have much faith on him

Machado just has to attack early and maintain the gap ;)

I think he will win solo. _O_

Henao was sent the wrong way near the end. I seem to recall misdirection by stewards/press cars/cavalcade cars/etc. in other races on the Iberian peninsula. Who was second at the time? Why, none other than Portuguese rider, Rui Costa.

Also Harmon, the commentator Eurosport should let go, appeared to be unaware of Wout Poel's life-threatening injuries sustained in last year's TDF. Also why did Eurosport play the clip of Henao winning right at the start of the highlights. Makes no sense.

Jeez, with a Portuguese 2 and 3 on the GC going into the final time trial, the lead motorbike for Tony Martin will be turning into every sidestreet and suburban driveway it passes.

;)

Interesting points about the finish...but always confusing in the Volta. There was a **** up on the finish on stage 1 also.

And the Eurosport **** up showing the finish was a first even for Eurosport.

Harmon not mentioning Poel's crash was insulting. He can't be bothered doing any research for this race. His commentary has been more shoddy than usual.

tony martin surely, the final 2/3s suit him and the gap just is not big enough to stop him.

Yup, the Portuguese and Spanish are totally the only ones who've ever done anything like that.

They are all mediocere Tters, not elite ones. No one will stay within a minute to Tony today!

Mediocere is pretty harsh, not many at Martins level anyway a handful, some good tt riders in this field but then again don't think anyone with ok tt would try target this race.

Menchov has more GT TT wins than Tony...

Menchov has been in the game for as long as i can remember, i can think of two tours were tony rode hurt or matched by Cancellera.

Volta ao Algarve, Stage 5 : Lagoa - Portimao I.T.T. (17.2 km) 20/02/2011

1. [GER] MARTIN Tony THR 20'53"
2. [NED] WESTRA Lieuwe VCD 05"
3. [POR] MACHADO Tiago Jose Pinto RSH 26"
4. [NZL] SERGENT Jesse RSH 27"
5. [GER] KLÖDEN Andreas RSH 30"
6. [USA] VAN GARDEREN Tejay THR 30"

Extrapolate to twice the distance, and we have a close race between Westra and Martin ;)

Just saw the highlights. Westra had a great last kilometre.

Tony lost almost no time though, so he will win overall normally. Also great to see Wout Poels up there, I seriously didn't expect him to be anywhere near the top today.

The Blanco's were dissappointing today. But you can't be good everywhere everytime

Yea, Westras sping form is usually much better thatn the germans, so my favourite for the tt is Westra.

Tony is on a totally different level this year.
