I fell asleep and just woke up at 300m to go, can someone give a quick recap what happened in Arrate? I think Sky trained it up considering that Porte and Henao was still there

Spilak attacked with about 5k left, Porte closed him down with Henao, Contador, Peraud, Betancour and Quintana, Quintana won by 2 seconds

A Movistar rider going on the attack? I'll believe it when I see it.

Sky gets a lot of flack, but Movistar is the most boring team ever.

Most boring?? I can't even believe I just read that. Have you watched any races this year? Actually, Movistar was the first to attack from the group on the final climb today. And we've seen Nairo attack more than once this year .

He sure is, and he was the strongest today, so he should have attacked on the climb!

But no, Movistar are content with securing the stage win, nevermind aiming for GC.

We can hope that tomorow he will attack.

...Guys,this race is a colombian parade!Where is Ryo;still banned?He surely is celebrating:D

Kreuziger's seriously bad. A long time ago some thought he would have the highest GC ambitions, then that he at least could be a great super dom. What are his prospects now? He's getting dropped from the front groups before he really can help his leader.
OK, if he wins LBL that would be an answer :)

Quintana must avoid being "Valverde 2.0" like Unzue wants. He is able to attack from a long distance and not at the last km. Henao and Porte (the big favourite) with total ease. And Contador at his usual level this 2013. Very poor;)

As well as the weather, noone was really taking it up at the bottom of the climb after herrada's and spilak's attacks

I'm sorry José Herrada forcing at the bottom of the climb and disappearing 1km later doesn't exactly count as blowing the race up in my book...

Again, do Movistar really want to win this race? If they do, they should have gone all-out with Quintana on the climb today, instead of waiting to sprint for the stage win. They are turning an aggressive climber like Quintana into a new Valverde, making him ride as conservatively as possible.

Depend of weather, stage distance, number of stage and how the climb was raced.

I remember in 2009 the second group came at 15-25 seconds.
But the fact is Contador is past his prime

The Contador past his prime discussion will not be settled until the Tour anyway. Interesting stage tomorrow, I'd say either a breakaway or a select group of under 10 favourites battling it out. Could see the more punchy guys like Sammy, Cunego and Ulissi sprinting for the win, with Porte and Spilak possibly losing some time.

Temperature and conditions can affect those numbers. But the VAM do not take that into account!
