LL Sanchez to be left sitting in the chair pointlessly for 36 minutes (until Dennis finishes), all the time aware that this is a false accolade and that he will be lucky to make top ten.

Any other likely long term seat warmers?

I guess it'll go something like this:

Machado
Konovalovas
Gretsch
Luis Leon
Dennis

...and then I don't know :D

I think Dennis could be there until...

Westra
Dowsett
Phinney
Wiggins
Canc
Martin

However, my predictions are usually a jinx on anyone I say will do well :(

How does the start list get determined for World Champs? It makes sense at least for the last group, but are there any specific criteria or is it just written by somebody?

I think Machado paid some euros to be one of the first's to start the TT, at least now he will have a chance to lead the World's. :D

http://www.uci.ch/includes/asp/getTarget.asp?type=FILE&id=34028
kind of says (p.47)

[For a single] individual time trial race, the starting order for each team
shall be determined by the organiser in agreement with the commissaires panel;
each team shall determine the order in which its riders shall start.

here read team as country I guess.

Page 35 says

"At world championships and Olympic Games, the starting order shall be determined by the UCI."

I don't think the stage race rule has anything to do with it.

I think I've already found my hero of the day - JASER Nazir from Syria...

Just watched the youtube channel and saw him start - on a normal Road Bike, not a TT machine

commentators just mentioned that for him it's the most important to be there and have the possibility to start - no matter on what material.

Chapeau!
