I think Machado paid some euros to be one of the first's to start the TT, at least now he will have a chance to lead the World's.

"At world championships and Olympic Games, the starting order shall be determined by the UCI."

I don't think the stage race rule has anything to do with it.

Just watched the youtube channel and saw him start - on a normal Road Bike, not a TT machine

commentators just mentioned that for him it's the most important to be there and have the possibility to start - no matter on what material.
