STAGE 5 - ITT Neuchâtel-Neuchâtel: 18.5km

Froome should be on the race, though it isn't completely certain considering his recent back problems and eventual DNS at L-B-L. Porte will be present as well. This is going to be a difficult race for Sky to control, and depending on the weather, those descent finishes could get even more tricky for the likes of CF.

Spilak will lead Katusha. He has always performed well in here and he is my favourite for the win.

Costa is supposed to lead Lampre, though his condition is unknown after today's crash in Liège.

Kwiatkowsi, Van Garderen, Majka, Fuglsang, Uran, JC Peraud and Mathias Frank are other strong names.

After a disappointing Ardennes campaign, this is where the real action will happen.

Nibali was in Astana's roster for the race but apparentely he dropped.

If Nibbles doesn't podium on this parcours I'm running to push the panic button.

Edit: ok just read big mac's post. Makes sense to me.

You want to edit that BigMac? Or should I? ;)

No Nibali is bad news. His form must be much worse that I thought. :(

I believe you mean "dropped." Unless you know something we don't...

Oh, of course I did. Sorry, typed too fast. Thanks for the heads up. ;)

Talansky could be a factor on such a parcours.
Also It would appear Uran is scheduled to race.

Curious to see how Zoidl manages after collarbone issues(?).

The more I look at this route the more I like it.

Team Sky vs. Kwaitkowski.

Kwaitkowski have been up there for almost all the races he has participated in.

He has been extraordinary. The third strongest rider this season after Valverde and Contador. Could be a very big problem for Sky.

Tejay, Spilak and JCP in the top 5.

hmm no mountain finish top. I think Froome can win it especially with his ITT pedigre. I secretly wish that Kwiat finally closing his first half of the season with GC win again (that would be nice). Good in mountain and strong in ITT. Tejay might be another one to watch out. Other than that I don't see anyone else. Nibali?... hhhh.. dunno about him.

Majka and Roche are supposedly line up. They should be on a good form for the Giro. But winning it? not sure. If Quintana comes here, not sure if he can win it either. Looks like the race will be decided with the ITT and TTT. Even though stage 4 is interesting with the finish line not long after cat.1 climb and descent.

EDIT; Talansky might be another one that I think will lit up the race too.

Froome is not the favourite. Last year he only put 7 seconds on Spilak in a completely flat time trial, this year there's that small hill (artificial I think) which opens the door to other contenders who are not that good time trialists. Downhill finnishes don't make it easy for Sky either. They may control the climb, but if someone decides to attack near the top, especially if a good descender like Spilak, there's not much they can do about it. To me, Spilak has got to be the favourite. Even more if it rains.

Curious to see how Mathias Frank does.

A shame the race doesn't have any uphill descents. I heard those were extra tricky :p

Agreed, shame on the organizers. :D That's probably the reason Nibali ain't comming since he is a good descender and uphiller.

Btw, thought you were getting me a Nibali avatar. No one takes me serious with this one. If you prefer you can chose Valverde.

LOL! :D Good post.

I would like to see my fellow Americans Tejay and Talansky do well. Tejay especially is on good form. Hoping for good things from them. Personally I'd just like to see any team put a lot of pressure on Sky when things go downhill on the descents. Create some havoc...break things up a little.

Froome should win this if he participates, the ITT will give him the edge and he has the luxury of riding behind Porte and Lopez (who will do most of the climbs) Btw, any bonus times for the stages?
